Default Unlock keypad with the trackball

Please Login to Remove!

Don't know if I am the only one facing this issue.

After i remove my Curve from the holster, the keypad is locked (which is fine). When I move the trackball and click on the "unlock" option, the keypad doesn't unlock but asks me to press * and "send" keys.

Any ideas how to unlock the keypad with the trackball?

thanks in advance...

As far as I know there is no way to do it. I know almost everyone hated it when it came out because you used to be able to do it from the selections but no longer. A future OS might fix it.

The best way I found to easily unlock my phone is to just have a password that can easily be pressed in. For example I had mine for awhile BNM$, so that I can just move my finger across from left to right and the last thing I push on that same lane is enter.

Although it isnt the most secure, it will atleast will keep nosey people out of my phone since it is such an obvious password and stupid password people wouldnt think of it. ;)

Atleast thats what Im banking on

Mine doesn't automatically lock..wouldn't you have to enable the keypad lock? Maybe I missed something..or you want it to lock ?

works as designed.

the cause is the during the insertion into the holster or when taking the blackberry out of the holster the ball might accidently pushed which might cause an unwanted unlocking.

RIM introduced this new unlocking behavior by design in O/S 4.2, precisely to account for the trackball unlocking. so I don't think it's a 'bug" per se, nor do I see RIM "fixing" something they deliberately introduced on purpose.

Though it would be nice if RIM did make the new default behavior customizable for the user. Try dropping RIM a line .. [email address] .

Yes. I did enable the lock upon holstering. But I also wanted it to be able too unlock with the trackball. it definitely gives me the option for "unlock, emergency call and cancel" when i move the trackball upon taking it out of the holster.

Then why do I get the option to unlock when I move the trackball. I don't get that option if I press any other key.

I do understand what you are saying but then giving the option to unlock and then not doing anything upon selecting that option is a bug in my opinion.

I dont understand all of this locking and unlocking. Just hold the mute key on the top of the curve for a few seconds, and it locks the whole unit down without a password.

Ready to use it again? Just hit the mute button and it springs right back to life!

I discovered it also 2 weeks ago. This is really better to use this way (press mute for 2 sec) to lock the BB, and to unkock, it's so much quicker, push it back
