Default Help with converting media and with sound quality please!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys

So I converted all of my MP3's to my Blackberry Curve the other day using Roxio Media Manager and had three questions:

1) In the Roxio Media Manager, when I'm dragging the files over the media card, is it best to "Convert the files for optimal playback" or to "Leave the files as is"? What does this "converting" option affect?

2) I have a MP3 cassette player that I can hook up to the headphones jack of my BB to listen to music in the car. It sounds great when coming from my iPod, but for some reason whenever I hook it up to the BB, the songs sounds distorted. It keeps the instrumental parts the same volume, but for some reason it mutes the voices/singing parts, making the overall song sound terrible. Anyone know why this is happening and what could fix this?

3) Lastly, for some reason there's one song that I keep on trying to convert over to my BB, but it keeps on saying that it's an unsupported media type and the duration is 0.00. It's an MP3 and I can play it fine on iTunes, but it just won't work on my phone. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks

Thumbs up

I am using the BlackBerry Ringtone Generator for creating ring tone files. I have this for years now because at some time in the past the Roxio thing was not existing yet. However, it works really fine for me

In Media try the option that says Headset Equalizer. Also try adjusting the volume on the device to a pretty low level and adjust the volume in your car using the stereo's volume control. I have tried this so these are just ideas.

I don't use the Roxio tool in DM, I'm using the other thing that syncs with your iTunes playlists - unfortunately can't think of the name of it right now and I'm not at home or else I'd just look at it - I got it from RIM on their dl site.. Anyway I don't convert the files or anything I just transfer "as is" and sound quality is just fine with a headset (speaker on the phone..not so much)

In Media options, the only option for audio is "audio boost," and of course whenever I turn that on it says "Warning: not safe for BB." And I've tried a whole range of different things in the car. For some odd reason it's just reading the music and making one sound louder than all the others. It switches sometimes too: one time a trumpet, guitar and person was singing, but the person and guitar were dimmed but I could hear the trumpet. When the trumpet stopped, the guitar was loud again but the person was still dimmed. It's so odd....

And that BB syncing tool unfortunately doesn't have a 64-bit program :(

Maybe your cable is going bad? That's weird... And it sounds ok if you listen with headphones?

Yea it sounds great when I listen to headphones, but terrible when I plug it into the cassette player. The last time I used it with an iPod it worked perfectly (that was about 3 months ago, but still... I havn't touched it since). I don't know what's up with my BB :(

Seems to me like the problem is not with the BlackBerry if it sounds fine with headphones.

Without using Roxio to convert or transfer files, turn on the Mass storage mode on your media card this enables you to access your phones Media card in "My computer" sort of like a thumb USB drive. Put all the Mp3's you want to listen in the Music folder just simply "Copy" & "Paste". Dont turn on AudioBoost this will further distort you music.
