Default Desktop Manager Issues

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having problems with the media manager in my desktop manager. I'm using version 4.5.0.15. When I click on the media manager, the roxio for blackberry splash screen comes up and then I get:

A Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library popup box that says:

Runtime Error!

Program: C\program file\roxio\media manager 9\mediamanager9.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I even tried to uninstall/install the 4.3 version and still get the same error message.

Therefore, I don't think the 66 version will help since I'm getting the error message in both the 4.3 and 4.5.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (Curve)

I say your lucky to just get desktop manager to detect your BB. I'm going on 2 weeks now and numerous calls to tech support and resolution in sight :(

I know what you mean regarding tech support. I stopped calling the Verizon tech support because they didn't know anything.

Chances are something is wrong with your Windows installation so you would probably get better support in a Windows forums versus a Blackberry one.

Have you tried downloading and installing the version of Desktop Manager without the Roxio media manager?

I know what you mean. sgtcasey has a good suggestion regarding it being a windows problem, but I've started over with a whole new hard drive and windows installation and my Media Manager problem has persisted as you've described. I've repeatedly had to reinstall the desktop manager with Roxio to get it back on track. I've also searched all sorts of forums and have yet to see a suitable solution to this problem that I believe Roxio should address. It's tough because when the program works, I've found nothing comparable to import music and playlists better.

I've just installed Desktop Manager w/ the Media Manager and the DM just flashes and disappears when I try to run it. :(

Before I had the newer version of it without the Media Manager and it wouldn't detect my bb at all.

This is getting kind of frustrating!

Golfergirl, check your PC and see if you have .NET Framework installed. Go to the Add\Remove applet in Control Panel. It occured to me that Roxio might require .NET Framework.

If you don't have it, you can download it from Microsoft here:

Download details: .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

And be sure you have all the latest Windows updates.

Also, do you have any other Roxio programs installed on the PC?
