Comcast may not be able to deliver just by the nature of the architecture, but they are due onsite here Sunday, and we'll keep you posted. I may have to do DSL, as FiOS is not available here, or worse, forgoe the H@H!!
Considering Comcast provides VOIP service, that's a little disappointing. But some networks are older than others and it does depend on what your neighbors are doing.

DSL isn't too bad an alternative although my experience with DSL was a lot of times when it just wouldn't connect at all. But that was about 6 years ago.

I have upgraded my service to 16MBps and still no change in UMA performance. I am so appreciative to the forum for helping me to troubleshoot and identify where my problem is.

Here is the latest VOIP test, PRIOR to the Comcast Technician visit: MySpeed Detail Analysis

I will restart my PC and redo the test b4 any changes are made and rerun the test, to see if at least the speed results change.

Wow, your "pause" graph is averaging maybe about 250 ms. The graph I get averages about 5 ms.

Note this comment from that website: "If you see many TCP pauses exceeding 80-100ms then it is likely that the connection test is spending more time waiting for data than moving data."

Hey, I just noticed it says your download speed is: 806 Kbps (socket test)
Hardly within spec there.

I've got some real issues here!!

Rain caused rescheduling, thus no change in my situation.

How do you spell frustrated?

OK. Here's the update, and again, I am deeply indebted to you guys helping me to pinpoint my problem. I have been sooooo frustrated with this since 9/07, and nobody, not TMO or Comcast was able to help me as you have. Special shout out to John Clark and to monkeypaw; Thanks a million!!

Comcast was onsite today and says that there is a problem in the line, as my upstream is 54 at the modem and 60 at the line.

The call has been elevated to the Line Tech, who are scheduled to be onsite tomorrow.

What do you think??

Cool. Now that you know where the problem is, they can't point fingers elsewhere. Hope it is a fixable problem.

Good Morning All!

I am not sure if the work is in progress or not, but I have recently seen the b est numbers since we started down this path:

Download speed 16872 Kbps (socket test)
Upload speed 3036 Kbps (socket test)
Quality of service 70 %
Maximum delay 214 ms
Round trip time 34 ms
Upstream jitter 0.8 ms
Upstream packet loss 0 %

Delay #'s still don't look great, so it may be that this snapshot is not totally representative of any change in service, maybe representative of network activity(?).

I am also running a smokeping per dslreports for the next 24 hours so I will see any outages disconnects, etc., giving me a better idea if and when any work IS being performed.

So the saga continues...

Comcast cannot guarantee a QoS of 85% just by the nature of the architecture.

What are you guys using for Internet Service that this VoIP/UMA technology works for you and not for me?
