Default So has anyone tried using a Storm on T Mobile?

Please Login to Remove!

I was reading some articles about a person who was able to unlock their Storm and get it to work on T-Mobile network after they loaded some Bold software on it. I am wondering, is this possible? My grandmother has a storm and she is going to give it to someone and I can convince her to give it to me but I want to know first if its possible?

You cannot load a Bold OS on the Storm. However, you can use an unlocked Storm on T-Mobile. Many have and are currently doing so.

This link may help you get what you need:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-t-mobile.html

Note that it does not involve migrating Bold software to the Storm.

Don't you also need the GSM version of the Storm and not the CDMA one?

No, The CDMA 9530 also has GSM bands.

I notice there are two Storm models, the 9500 and the 9530, what are the differences and which one should I look for? Or are both the exact same?

I think one of the models is GSM and the other is CDMA+GSM bands (Verizon phone).

The 9500 was released in Europe on Orange and is a GSM model. No CDMA on this one. It has quad-band GSM plus 2100 MHz HSDPA for Euro 3G. The 9530 was released in the U.S. on Verizon and features CDMA plus quad-band GSM, but no HSDPA.

Except in the UK where the 9500 Storm was released only on Vodafone, but is a GSM version.

you can use either one, but you will have to have them unlocked. also with the 9530 (verizon storm) you will need to make sure the connection is set to GSM all the time, as 1XEV is useless for you.

in my experiences here, i think the 9500 is better suited towards GSM users and is overall a smoother phone to use than the 9530....
