Anyone know if there is a way to get an att.blackberry.net address as opposed to mycingular.blackberry.net?

It sure looks like it's not really available yet. Tried sending to myself:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

[email address]

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: DNS Error: Domain name not found

It doesn't look like att.blackberry.net is configured to receive mail yet.. who knows when:
$ host -t mx att.blackberry.net
Host att.blackberry.net not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

As compared to:
$ host -t mx mycingular.blackberry.net
mycingular.blackberry.net mail is handled by 10 mx02.bis.na.blackberry.com.
mycingular.blackberry.net mail is handled by 10 mx03.bis.na.blackberry.com.
mycingular.blackberry.net mail is handled by 10 mx04.bis.na.blackberry.com.
mycingular.blackberry.net mail is handled by 10 mx01.bis.na.blackberry.com.

yeah this would be nicer. Wonder why AT&T has it on their page www.cingular.com/blackberry but they don't really have it.

Was just trying to find out info on this myself. I think it sure sucks to have to keey mycingular around when it's not cingular anymore. Plus att is so much shorter to give out to people for my email addy.

Hopefully this changes sometime soon.

My phone service still says Cingular (not AT&T). It's probably just one of those things that will happen in an orderly fashion at some point when other aspects of the old network are folded in to AT&T.

depends on the new Sim Cards. i have a Cingular Sim Card i will have Cingular as my network. If u notice the display phones with the Display Sim Cards (that are ATT) say ATT Network.

email:

try deleting your @mycingular.blackberry.net and re-adding it, maybe it re-adds as att.blac...

I have a Cingular SIM and my 8800 and 7290 both read AT&T as the network.

well if @att.blackberry.net is avaible. All you have to do is log into your webclient account and delete your current mycingular.blackberry.net e-mail address and create a new one.

Just like how it was when sprint and nextel merged. They stopped using @nextel.blackberry.net and started giving out sprint.blackberry.net for all new subscribers.

If your phone is still showing Cingular on screen, call 1-877-768-3814 and ask them to push the update to your phone to show ATT on screen. Takes about 10 minutes.

Default AT&T Email Address

I spoke with AT&T yesterday and eventually made it to tech support. They were unaware if a migration had taken place. They had me delete the device email address and have a new one assigned. To nobody's surprise, the only option showed up as [email address]

Tech support guessed an email would go out to all users once they were ready for a system migration.

Funny that the site says you get an att.blackberry.net but they aren't offering it.

Sounds like a few organizations I know of where the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing...

There has not been an official date announced yet. It is still being negotiated most likely between RIM and AT&T

Just to let you all know, ATT /(formerly Cingular) has announced the migration of domains from [email address] to [email address]. This migration will be taking effect During October and November 2007. You will recieve a courtesy message when you have been migrated. the @mycingular.b.. address will be active through March 2008. This gives you plenty of time to migrate your senders.

If you delete your email address and then re-add it, it will put you on the att.blackberry.net domain.
