Are you using Desktop manager to do the sync?

I have the same problem and I answer to your question: no, I'm not using DM.
  • I have the plug-in installed
  • I login in the app world and I ask to download an app.
  • first step is thicked (Get the BlackBerry App World Browser Plug-in)
  • for the second step (Connect your smartphone) I select my device in the drop-down list and regardless what I choose in the screen in my 9100 with OS6 (Charge only, Sync Media, USB drive) I get the message error
I really don't know how to sort it out !!!

PS I get the same result regardless the browser (Firefox, Chrome or IE)

Ok so if you both have a blackberry data plan and have downloaded Appworld to the BB, from that point you use the App to contact and download apps. The error message seem to state it cannot find the plug-in which points to a lack of either a blackberry data plan or you never downloaded Appworld.
So the question is do you have a specific Blackberry data plan? Not a standard cell data plan.
If you do have a plan then try downloading Appworld or using a PC download it then move it to the BB using DM.

I was coming back to the forum happy for posting the solution to this issue (googling around I noticed is quite common but I haven't found any workaround proposed) when...I've read tsac suggesting it !!!

I fully confirm that what said by tsac is true: App world must be up and running on the device as well, that's the trick !

This is what I did: I "activated" Appworld on my device by downloading last version from the web, logging in my account and downloading a free app (although the process didn't went smoothly and without re-dos). After that even the connection though the browser works without any problem.

Some people think the Appworld site works directly and do not realize it's a App required to load.

I have the same problem, while I about to install any software (from PC) it shows the following error message, but earlier I used to connect and install, but recently I downloaded the latest version of appworld to my BB, from that onwards Iam getting this kind of error.

App World Web Plugin Error
An error has occurred communicating with the BlackBerry App World Web plugin. Please restart your device and try again. If you have content protection enabled on your device, please disable and try again.

Could anyone help me out in this ?
