Unhappy Blackberry internet service suspended or deactivated

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I just bought a Blackberry Curve 8310 off ebay and can't get messenger or apps working. The edge in the corner isn't in capitals so I rang O2 customer services and they told me the bolt on is activated and to try going onto host routing table and registering it but that doesn't seem to be working :/ I tried going on o2email.co.uk and creating an account but it says it's suspended or deactivated. When i run the diagnostics test it's all unknown and not registered etc. There are no APN settings either. Also I can get online via the browser but it doesn't always work..will i get charged for this?? Does anyone know how to fix this?? Hopefully there is a simple solution that i'm just too stupid to see (I'm not very technical). I've contacted the person i bought it off earlier but he hasn't responded yet. Thanks for you help

Laura

Sounds to me like the person you bought the device from sold you either a stolen device or one with an account suspended for failure to pay the bill or some other similar reason.
My advice is to return it and get your money back.

Laauaauauaurrraaa, those things are helpful. Sorry you can't see the point the user was offering your in making you aware of the many issues you must be clear about when buying a device on eBay.

"Suspended or deactivated" normally means a reported lost or stolen device.

Now, return the device to your seller, get your money back, and refer to the FAQ offered you before buying another used device.

I saw the point but what's done is done..I was aware of the risks but I'm not bothered about the money/sending it back etc I just want to know if there's anything I can do about it now. Please don't make out that I'm being ignorant.

You specifically said in your original post "(I'm not very technical)". I nor anyone else was trying to make you out as ignorant. We simply were providing you what information seemed relevant based on your post at the time. I am sorry if it came off the wrong way.

I know you weren't but saying return it and refer to the FAQ offered as if I've been really stupid isn't helping. I wan't talking about you :/

No, theres nothing you can do.
You cant have a reported device reactivated.

Arrogant and ignorant, I don't know yet. Only what I observe, that I explained that you should now return the device AND read the FAQ to know the pitfalls before buying another used device. If you ignore that advice and just want to argue, then...

Please Laura, this is a very helpful forum, you'd do well to learn to not take anything personal and not try start a spitting contest over your own words.

Default Blackberry internet service suspended or deactivated

Sorry to be a killjoy here but as the title above says what it says - its not a good idea to immediately put the fear of god into people with comments like it must be stolen etc etc>

Fact

Blackberry internet service suspended or deactivated - means just that.

sometimes when a bberry user upgrades their contract and moves from say bberry to iphone, the bberry internet account is de-activated and renders the bberry useless (temporarily) on BIS.

Simply contact your service provider, give then the pin and imei number and they will re-activate the bberry.

It has sod all to do with stolen phones or any other such dramatic reasons than simply - BBerry Internet service has glitches.

Sorry to ruin the consipacy theorists.

Wrong. Nothing like waking up a six month old thread for no reason.
But thanks for playing.

Sorry, they very rarely will do so when the PIN is suspended or deactivated. If, in your scenario, the device is still registered on another network, the error given the user is different, something to the effect of "PIN is active on another network" etc., or so.

So. Having helped literally thousands of users in years, and probably hundreds on this very specific issue, I think I know what a suspended or deactivated PIN means.
