This sucks. I've been without phone service for almost 24 hours thanks to a fault at T-mo, and the minute voice returned, blackberry service went down...

Verizon Wireless in Minneapolis, MN - Everything seems to be fine, although messages are only being sent, not received.

service seems to be working... after intermittent periods of SRP failure. Now, to fix the borked units in the field.

Looks like messages are starting to be received for me. I called them to see what was going on, and in the really long time that I was on hold, the problem fixed itself, so I hung up.

The downtime even made CNN, that is really bad PR for RIM.

Wait a minute?! Where's my password keeper?! <<GGRRRR>> "Umm, yeah, that's gone too. Sorry." Then says, "Wait 4 hours" so he can ditch the call.

I still dont have full service restored. My wife's BB is just fine, except this morning when e-mail was down.

Thought I'd share a quick update.

I have used the desktop manager to back up my 7290 (2) days prior to wiping the handheld. I haven't used the Restore and gave it a shot last Monday. I learned I was able to pick and choose different items to restore or restore all. It included my bookmarks and password keeper. WHEW! All I lost was the weekend's worth of PIN messages between my wife and I.

Had intermittent connection on the BB-Browser, but only with http://www.blackberry.com/go/mobile// and it's local links. Couldn't get outside Blackberry.com. The mMode WAP Browser always worked. It's crappy and slow for any real use. I did check my hidden icons at the home screen. mMode was missing, but if I used the BB Browser's bookmark, it would use the ATT Logo'd WAP browser.

Finally, today (2-weeks of downtime), I tried setting browser configs to default. Still nothing outside of the home page and links. So I began to test the included links. I ended up connecting to UPS and Brown came knockin!

I immediately went to my bookmarks for my Underground Weather link (my most used link). PAH!! IT'S ALIVE!! Looked at the hidden icons on the home screen again and mMode was there.

It's working now and I'm not completely sure why. I'm now positive that contacting any customer service rep may put your sanity at risk. It's not worth the call. Especially that damn interactive voice recognition menu!

Just need 3 things: Ride the storm out, read BBForums, and troubleshoot on your own.

BTW: I have a small triangle in front of "GPRS". Was told by CSR it's a "roaming" icon. Apparently, the local ATTW or Cingular Blue towers are being switched to Cingular Orange (my network ID already said "Cingular" for months), so my Blue blackberry phone sees "another company's cell tower". What I'm seeing now is that it's roaming on Cingualar Orange. --- I guess.
