Default BIS and BES Simultaneously?

Please Login to Remove!

Using Cingular and BIS with mycingular.blackberry.net email. I would also like to perform enterprise activation and use my company's BES. If I perform enterprise activation will this negate my BIS service? Or will the both work together?

Both can work together just fine. If your company pushes an IT policy to your BlackBerry, you may not be able to reply to BIS emails via the BIS account. Just depends on thier policy.

I use both as well as several personal (POP3) accounts. No problem at all but like d_fisher stated depends on your BES policy that is pushed out.

It can work fine and you'll have duplicate icons for browsing and perhaps other services (icons look a bit different). But the BES admins can force default settings such as all outgoing going through the BES even if you intend BIS, etc. You should consult with them on those issues. You can also see the various default settings yourself by going into settings and looking at service books, messaging, and status. -Pk

I'm currently running BIS and having it poll my employers Outlook Web Access for company email. I just found out that my employer has BES and will allow me to connect my BB to it.

Am I better off just keeping what I have, or would the switch to BES be better. Also, if there is some IT policy that causes me some issues, can I take my BB off the BES and just go back to the way I had it to start with?

Well with BES you will get over the air sync of your calendar too, if you like the sound of this you need to get activated for BES.

I'm not sure about the IT policy part, I would guess if they take you off BES the policy on your BB will end.

Just to clarify, before a device is removed from a BES, the default (blank) policy needs to be pushed to the device first. Otherwise the policy that is on the device is stuck there.

At least until the user searches this forum to find out how to remove the policy....
