Default BBM Abroad

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys,

I've looked everywhere for answers but I'm still confused...

I am going to Cyprus and I am planning to take my Blackberry 8520 with me.

I have been told to turn off the roaming thing so that I don't get no extra charges...

I am planning on purchasing a Virgin Travel Pack. £10 = 3 months 25MB.

Is it possible to purchase this whilst my roaming is off?

All I really want to do is use BBM. I don't care about using the internet!

How many BBM messages can I send if I have 25MB?

I hope someone can help me because I am so so confused and I'm leaving soon!!

Thanks,

Chris

What do you mean by "turn off the roaming thing"? What thing?

If you turn data off, you will not be able to use BBM. You will have to have data turned on. And you can't only turn it on for BBM.

BBM messages themselves are only text and should only take a few kilobytes each. If you send and receive pictures or files, then you will use a lot more.

100 messages might be around 300 - 500 kilobytes.

Having said that, 25MB for three months is not a lot of data.

If I turn off data services whilst roaming, will I be able to use BBM abroad if I buy the travel pack?

I will only send about 2 messages a day and I'm going for 3 weeks.

No. BBM is data. If you turn data off, you will not be able to use BBM.

Okay thank you.

If I want to send only a few messages a day, will 10MB be enough for 3 weeks?
