Depends what you leave on your phone in the first place, what unused apps.

I have deleted everything that I don't and never will use....Twitter, AIM, Yahoo messaging etc etc, and left on Facebook and things that I will use. I've not touched any of the Blackberry items.

I've deleted all the other languages except English that I use....this tip was from blackberry . com for freeing up memory, and this freed up about 30mb on it's own.

I started off with 34mb of free memory on the phone and now have over 80mbs free.

That's not counting what is on the sd card.

I'm not suggesting you blitz your phone, but it does rather make sense to get rid of stuff taking up memory that you don't use and make room for things you will use.

And I am a complete and utter novice so if I can do it anyone can...

Wellington, the BlackBerry 9000 (which the OP has in his/her profile) has very limited memory. There is no way to expand or extend the memory. You can delete files to maximize what you have (which is what you did), but the 9000 had very limited application storage and won't benefit that much.

I noticed after I'd posted, when I came back on later that it was a different model, and I wondered whether to delete what I'd put or to leave it in case it helped anyone else...

Note to self...pay more attention...lol..

Even a stock 9000 with no third party apps loaded can't possibly make it to 80MB+ of free app space.

Posted for clarity.

Wow, thats impressive if it's a 9000. The best I could ever do was ~50MB

Sorry I think I'm confusing everyone. I thought a 'stock 9000' meant any of the 9000s....mine is the 9300.

I realised earlier then posted the pic...

I really must get my head round all the models and just stick to my own...
