Default Cannot connect to BIS

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked 9650 with Verizon that I have been using with Rogers. Now that I am back in the US I would like to switch back to my verizon account so I put in the SIM card and I was able to connect to the network with patchy 3G coverage but I am unable to connect to the BIS. Even when I do have 3G and try to open the browser a prompt pops up saying that I need to have WIFI on. I'm not sure why I cannot connect to the BIS but I do have an unlimited data package with Verizon so that is definitely not the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Umm ... Verizon does not use SIM cards. Verizon uses the CDMA side of the device. So if you want to use it on Verizon, you would need to call Verizon and start an account and activate the CDMA side.

And if you had a BIS account with another carrier, you need to cancel that account and then set up another with Verizon.

The Verizon Bold 9650 is "Global Ready" and is both GSM and CDMA capable. It has SIM card.

So true, but, to use it on Verizon's CDMA network you will have to set up an account with Verizon and enable the CDMA radio.

Do you have a specific BB data plan from Verizon? An unlimited data package will not give you connectivity to RIM services/BIS. It must be a BB data plan.

Yes, the DEVICE has a SIM card.
But NO, the Verizon network does NOT use it.

I will repeat, VERIZON USES THE CDMA SIDE OF THE DEVICE.
