Default What OS can I run?

Please Login to Remove!

I have the Blackberry Curve 8310 From AT&T and it is currently running 4.2.2. This is my first blackberry ever (I converted from the iphone) and I was wondering what the newest version was that I could safely use.

thanks

If you want the latest official At&t release, then it is 4.2.2.170. But the link posted above will work on any 8310 device as long as the directions are followed.

The latest OS releases are always stickied at the tops of the forums for the various BB lines. You don't have to use your carrier's OS on your BB. The model number must be identical. Refer to the latest OS thread for detailed instructions.

If your BB works and there are no issues, I would not recommend upgrading the OS just for the heck of it, especially since you are a new user.

Get to know the device and what it can and cannot do before you try something like an OS upgrade. A lot can go wrong and really mess things up royally.

Just my 2 cents.

I got an iPhone 3G and really tried to like it. Have been a BB user for a long time. One thing that intrigued me was MobileMe and the ability to keep my calendar and contacts in sync on several devices (iPhone, PCs, MACs, etc.). After spending almost two days trying to get it to work, having to rebuild my calendar and contacts file twice (thanks BB, you saved me a lot of work), I gave up and returned the iPhone.

Plus it was taking over 45 mins and about half the battery to check mail on 4 accounts first thing in the morning. Never did connect either.

The BB is so solid. I guess I am spoiled. Got Google Calendar set up with all my calendar data so that can sync to outlook on my laptop, PC and home PC.
