Default Will An Unlocked Blackberry 8900 (Javelin) from Rogers work on Bell's New Network?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, I can get this really great deal for a Blackberry 8900 Javelin. The problem is that it is from rogers, but it is unlocked. Will I be able to use this phone on bell's new GSM network?

Please don't double post. I'm sure someone familiar with the Canadian networks can answer.

Since the 8900 is EDGE and not 3G, once you get it unlocked, there should be no problems.

Check out BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ for more information.

No it wont work since the javelin uses sim card and bell uses the sim card for overseas or international usage, which means bell still runs on cdma!!!

Actually Bell also uses SIM cards for their 3G capable phones. For example, Bell's iPhone and Bell's Blackberry Bold 9700 both use SIM cards.

In terms of the original poster's question, I'm not familiar with the Javelin but if it is not 3G capable, it won't work with Bell since Bell doesn't have a GSM network (they only have a 3G network for their SIM card phones).

If you got an iPhone or a Blackberry Bold 9700 (for example)... both which are 3G capable phones from Rogers and you unlock these phones, you'll be able to use it with Bell and their SIM card.
