Is it possible to get the phone to ring through the headset on the 9700? I found in some of the discussions on older phones that it wasn't always possible. However, I did see one discussion which said that aftermarket earphones would ring, but the OEM would not.

It's kind of annoying to put in the headphones to keep the sound from annoying others around me, but then I get a call and everybody hears my ringtone. Meanwhile, it takes me a minute to figure out why my music just stopped (especially since most times it stops because I bumped the damn mute button).

Unfortunately most BB's don't provide ring tones (or any tones) to the wired headset. I ride a motorcycle and would like the ring tones passed to a wired headset- I have been forced to Bluetooth for this reason. Bluetooth does provide indication that my BB is receiving a call.

I'm using a wired headset on my 9700 and it does not ring in the headset. My 8320 DID! This has to be a bug.

unfortunately with a bluetooth headphone the ring also does not go to the headphone !!!!!

yeah same problem here. my 8900 did ring in the headset but not my 9700

I think it's to do with OS 5.0. When I was using 4.7 I even got sms notifications through a wired headset.

Nothing to do with 5.0. Every since the 8700 I have not had any tones through a wired headset. At least with a Bluetooth headset it develops its own ring tones.

I'm running an 8900 on 4.6 and my phone doesn't ring through the bluetooth headset either. Wierd, and PITA!
