BB Tech Support Can't Help me to get the Web Browser Icon
Please Login to Remove!
...I can't set up my BES activation. They told me that the reason I can't is because I don't have a web browser icon - that is the first step. After 2 hours with a tech support person from BB, they had escalated my case and I have to wait for a call back.
Does anyone have any ideas why I can't get the web browser icon on my device? Any assitance would help.
Thanks.

Do you have the proper data plan?
do you have the browser service book?

Give this a try... Go to Options > Mobile Network. Press the menu key and select Start Provisioning.

Most likely because your device hasn't been fully provisioned with a Blackberry data plan.
What happens if you click on Options -> Mobile Network -> Press Menu button -> click Start Provisioning?
Does it fail with a 1012 error? If so, they need to fix that.....

Also, when I compose a PIN message, there is no "send" in the menu. Just save draft, etc. Crazy!

your device isnt activated on the proper data plan. call sprint have them remove the data plan and readd, also make sure they have your correct ESN in the system.

It is on the BES plan for $39 (Sprint). They took it off and re-added it. This is driving me crazy!

After they had to 'scrub' the device, did they walk you thru reprogramming it with the MSL (6-digit lock code) and MSID (IMSI)? If the MSID is not entered correctly when programming it,, the device won't provision, no matter what data plan you have.

are you talking with Sprint or are you talking with RIM? RIM cannot remove the plan. Have them read the ESN to you and check it under options > status on the device. if that is correct then ask them for the master lock code. once you get that have sprint walk you through the entire activation process again. you will need the lock code, your MSID and your Mobile Number.

Sounds like your device has been activated at one point and you have an IT policy. Try wiping the device again and then check the data signal. Try sending yor self a PIN message from Web2Pin - Send a Blackberry PIN message using the Internet

just out of curiousity how long has your device been active. data services (and service books) *can* take up to 8 hours to become active, with near instant to 4 hours being standard. if you have had the device that long and it still doesnt work, call sprint have them remove the BES plan and add the BIS plan. see if you can get your browser icon. if not, then exchange the device. if it works, then they didnt have you provisioned properly for BES
