Default ring tone question

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone explain this to me?

I have a contact in which I have assigned a custom ring tone to their messages and have it set to active profile. In this case my active profile is normal in which volume for the email in question is set to silent.

Whenever I get an email from that contact , their custom ring tone plays under the above conditions.

What am I missing here?

Thank you

Contact alerts override the settings for ALL profiles if you set them as such. So, if you have it set to make an audible alert for a message at a particular volume, it always will.

If you set all the settings beside the ring tone to "active profile", you shouldn't get an audible alert if you wouldn't normally get one in that profile.

Does this make sense?

That is exactly the problem I have.

I have the custom ring tone for this person set to active profile and the active profile that is set on the phone has messages as off but when i get a message from this person it still sounds.

That is odd.

I have the same thing set up. I use the normal profile to set how I like things. I have my normal profile set to NOT alert on email.

My contact alert has a different ring tone and all settings set to "active profile". When I am in Normal profile, I get no alert for that contact. When I change to Loud, I do.

Hmmmmm
