Since upgrading to v.24 mine has become very unstable. It constantly closes the app without my knowledge. Just now it acted as if I was connect and all was fine (green online dot on main screen shown), went in and sent an IM and I was told I was offline. Had to force shut down and then log in all accounts again. Not sure why it keeps dropping. Anyone else having similar issues?

I posted a similiar problem on another forum this morning. Mine disconnected and when I went back to check the program was not even running. It did this twice since getting the new update.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? My girlfriend has been experiencing it since she got the program and it happened to me once but seems to have fixed itself. We're both on Pearls on TMO, works great otherwise!

Thanks!

I was told to try a forced shutdown and then restarting JT. I also did a battery pull just in case.

We've tried both methods to no avail unfortunately. We'll give it another go to see what happens.

Thanks!

we have seen this, usually it's because somehow the AIM buddy list contains characters that's breaking our parsing. here's what someone with the same problem did to workaround the problem. sorry that it's rather cumbersome, but it did seem to work...

Following is cut and pasted from this person's email to our support address:

Quote:
FYI:

I figured out how to fix the problem with the AIM buddy list not showing up!

I wanted to see if AIM would work if I created a new AIM account, so I
created one. I then imported my list of buddies from my old account to
my new account (by saving a file containing my buddies using the
Windows AIM client. I used v.5.5.3599 obtained from oldversion.com.

To my surprise, this worked, and I had my list of buddies on my newly
created AIM account.

I then guessed that maybe my buddy list on my old account was
slightly corrupted on the AIM server. Thus, I deleted all of my
buddies on my old account, logged out and back in, and then imported
my list of buddies back into my old account. I then tried logging in
via JiveTalk and all my buddies appeared!

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I'll forward this to her, hopefully it'll work out. This program is totally worth the trouble. Best chat program I've used to date.

kyububba,

Great program thus far. Love the look and simplicity of it.

Only issue I've had was during the first log in, my buddy lists did not populate. I forced a shutdown and logged back in, and this corrected the issue.

I received the installation instructions last night. Go to the first page of this thread and look at the original post on how to ask to become a BETA tester.

I am having multiple issues since upgrading to version .24. It logs itself out all the time constantly. I never had a problem with v.23, it was rock solid. Kyububba can I get .23 back?

not sure, could a combination of things. there may be a reconnection bug in 24, we're still looking into it. but even with a bug there it would only affect you if the connection gets dropped in the first place...

it did look like our servers needed to be recycled, which we did a little while back, and since then it has looked smoother...

Same here. I didnt know I was being logged out as the icon was showing green the whole day, until I am done with work and click on it, there was a dialog box shows "Login Reset". And I still thought I was logon.

And now when I sit in front of my PC, I see myself offline (I have another a/c that added myself), I try to send my other a/c a message, it says I am not login.

I just got the beta two days ago and want to make a few suggestions. Is there a master list so that suggestions are not repeated? I'd also like a place to see what other people have suggested without reading through 1000 posts.

Couple of suggestions:
- Like when you read emails, jivetalk needs shortcut key ("T") to go back to top of buddy list quickly
- need way to rearrange order of services (eg, can rank Gtalk buddies first, then AIM buddies, etc, etc)

Awesome app so far, by the way.

1. I am not sure about other phone model, but if you are using a BB Pearl, you can indeed scroll left or right to go across your buddy list and get to the top or bottom.

2. Go to Preference, set your Grouping option to either by Accounts or Groups.

Default Build 0.5.25 Available (Fix for .24 stability problems)

Build 0.5.25 is available for download.

This is a patch build to fix the .24 stability problem. We introduced a bug in .24 that put the application in a "dead-end" state if the connection is lost for more than 10 minutes, or if our server is recycled. As a result, lots of people have experienced significant stability problems with .24.

This build should fix the bug. Other than the stability fix, there are no other visible feature enhancements in this build.

Updated from .24 to 0.5.25.

Users should be aware that when upgrading and overwriting the old version you'll lose all your settings and accounts. I had to enter my email accounts and preferences all over again.

Question: Will this upgrade install if you choose not to overwrite the older version?
