Simm Card
Please Login to Remove!
Hi All:
I just bought a new 7520 over e-Bay. I couldn't buy thru the Nextel plan because it's my employers and I don't pay for it. Now Nextel says I can't use my old SIMM card for the any of the features just calling by hand. Please help me find a Blackberry SIMM card that I can buy.

You can make calls and use all the phone functions. The blackberry functions just will not work.
It is possible to have BB service added to a regular SIM, you just have to keep trying until someone adds it.

What?
Talk about bad information.... You need to have Nextel activate the BlackBerry eMail service on that SIM. Any Nextel SIM card is compatible with the 7520 - if they tell you different they are uninformed.
Now if the service attached to the SIM card is your employers you wil eith have to have them activate the BB services or you will have to qualify for service on your own and have a seperate bill for the BB services. Bottom line is that can happen on the SIM card you have

Yes, they can do split billing for blackberries. Try calling Nextel Corporate care at 1-800-390-9545
In order to make changes to your account you'll need the company name, someone who is authorized to make changes and the passcode on the account.

Here is some info for you:
One: Not every SIM card is compatible with the BB, depends on what phone you had previoiusly
Two: They CAN split the billing, call corporate, the number is in the previous post.
Three: Send southwestcomm, a PM, he will get you a SIM card.

Okay you're right... to be perfectly technical the 16k SIM from an i2000 won't work. But a 32K Condor or 64K Falcon will work fine.

Well, I'm not confused now. Please stay with a complete novice. 1) What is BB service(BlackBerry ?); 2) my old sim card was a i60 phone, They told me at Nextel that they couldn't download my phone book so I could copy it, True? 3) Nextel also told me I wouldn't be able to load and use the autocall part of the phone book function? 5) If I call the corporate number they will be able to do something to let me use my current (i60) sim card to get all functions?
Thanks again to all who answer

So, I now have a sim card for the BB 7520. Am I now supposed to have the account holder (work) call nextel and somehow they will activate the sim card so it will work? Is that the way?

So now I called NEXTEL and gave them the Sim number and the pin number. They refused to activate the phone because the phone pin number was frozen. Have I been had or what?

Did they elaborate on "Frozen"? Was it just the BB PIN that was frozen?

Yes just the PIN on the phone was frozen. Nothing was wrong with the sim because I tried the old sim card and it still showed thwe same PIN fro the phone.
Anyway I gave up. I got a refunf from the E-bay guy for my phone and I'll eat the simm card cost, lesson learned.
Thanks anuway for your help.

Don't give up panhead. I say there was something with the unit if the guy gave your money back so quickly. If there was nothing wrong he would have called Nextel to clear it up. Try another, just ask the seller for the PIN, then verify it.
