Default How to stop BB internet from using "mobile" version webpages??

Please Login to Remove!

Ok this is getting annoying. My 9780 keeps going to the "mobile" versions of websites even when I enter the address for the full site. For example, using Facebook...I can get it to the full site but it keeps going back to the mobile version after I click around different tabs. How do I stop the BB from doing this??
I want to be able to stay on a full site since the OS6 can/does handle and display the full versions. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

can you change the browser identification in OS6? i would assume changing it to IE or Firefox would fix your problem

I don't see an option to change the emulation.

Good Question. I would also like to know if there is a option for this. I will have a 'tinker' around.

Although you find it annoying, I hope you do realize this is by design and the larger majority find it useful this happens. It is the website that detects the client browser type and delivers the appropriate content.

The workaround: use other brower like firefox or opera.

BOLT Browser also uses full desktop pages.

@devnull yes I understand that this is supposed to help and it does. However there are times where I want the option to use a full site versus a mobile version. Even on this website, for the life of me I can't view this full site...and the mobile version doesn't have the ability to update my profile.
Since I can't seem to find how to change the browser emulation, I'll try the other suggestions of using opera. Thanks folks.

The only reason BOLT allows you to do that is because it is not considered a typical mobile browser and is not detected as such. The content you receive is decided upon by the website based on what type of browser you are using - it has little to do with anything on your phone.

BOLT is obviously reporting that it is not a mobile browser, which could cause you issues on some sites if it crashes your OS trying to do something designed for the heavier-weight processors of a desktop. There is a reason for mobile sites vs regular sites.

but the iphone browser ignores the mobile pages n goes straight to the full page, you have any idea why the bb cant do that? some pages that i surf to only have the data on the desktop page. i too wish there was a way to switch between the two modes.

this is the most absurd thing I've heard on here! The whole idea behind the new browser was to make the experience more like a desktop or the iphone. the mobile sites are for phones that don't have the advanced capabilities of devices like the iphone or supposedly the blackberry with OS6. One of the main reasons we were looking forward to the new browser was to get away from the very limited mobile web pages!

Even with OS6, the BB isn't close to being in the same league as the iphone when it comes to browsing. Take the 2 side by side, load a site and watch how quickly the iphone loads and how beautifully the pages display, compared to the crap we get on the BB. If there's one thing I hate about the BB, it's the browser. RIM just can't seem to deliver a halfway decent browsing experience to its users.

That's probably the main reason I haven't upgraded to OS6 yet. I tried a few phones at stores this past week (both were the Torch) and I thought the native browser was very weak. I couldn't read the text on the pages unless I zoomed in, and then I felt like I was in a funnel with no perspective on the rest of the page. I purposely didn't use the touch screen so I could get an idea of how it would be on the 9700. I downloaded Opera Mini 5.1 and that was much better because I could use mobile view as a setting, but the cursor was so hyperactive that it made it virtually unusable.

Just another vote for full version option on this site.

Nice to see avatars. Came to trust certain faces, and everything else avatars bring to forums.

Wen u load Facebook and it displace mobile if u want it to go to full site... U go to the address bar and edit the address e.g m.Facebook.com/loginname so after it loads remove the m from the adress and it will load the main page.

There are quite a few websites that give you the option to browse its mobile or full page. It's FB fault to not provide this option, not BB.

I think the point was having choice. This way everyone has a browser they like instead of making where the "larger majority" like the browser but forgetting the silent minority...
