I really like the standby feature on my 8120 pearl, but i always forget to put it on standby. is there an application that will automatically go to standby after a certain period of time?

There is an autolock program, free, which is available. The holster makes a nice auto-standby or auto-sleep, if you use it.

auto is fine, but it doesn not put it in standby which means my phone will ran out of battery in 3 days instead of 6 days on average.

Wow 6 days ... I gotta recharge at least once a day. And mine is only a month old.

Also, it's easier to bring the phone out of standby (one key press) than lock (two key presses). I would probably like and auto-lock too.

Try 'AutoStandby', it's available at Crackberry.com and costs $4.95 but is worth it.

Works well. The only thing I noticed is when I manually put my 8130 in Standby using the Mute button, the display will light up momentarily after it goes out the first time.
