Soon I will be travelling to Hong Kong. I have a curve 8320 with t-mobile and 'world travel' service. The blackberry works great when I am outside the US in Mexico with no extra charges except for international calling (data is free). Does anyone know if this will work just as good, or at all, in Hong Kong? Will calls I make while in HK be GSM or some other type? And will data be billed or will it continue to be unlimited data?

Yes, it should be the same (according to your plan.) Why not use wifi/uma?

So am I correct in assuming that with wifi/uma on means you can make calls anywhere on the planet and only use your minutes (no H@H plan)?

I always thought that was the case but if JC agrees I can etch it in stone.

Anywhere you can get a wifi signal and get a UMA connection you can make calls back to the US and only use your minutes. Calls to other countries would be considered international as the call would be originating from the US.

Free long distance is only domestic correct? I've no contacts outside of the US, so I never researched the topic.

If you've had service with a carrier for more than 90 days you can call them and they will e-mail you instructions on how to unlock your phone for free. My Blackberry and Razr are both unlocked this way.

This thread isn't about unlocking a Blackberry device. It's about using the 8320 while travelling to HongKong using the same simcard.
