Default Soon To Be Bold Owner! Bold Tmobile Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I lost my phone recently an 8320 curve with a lot of unrecoverable memories on there but that's life. I've purchased a bold that should be arriving soon and I was wondering if an unlocked bold can run 3g on tmobile. I know Tmob's been slowly rolling out some 3G towers.

Also will UMA work as well? Should there be anything else I should be aware of if I'm using an AT&T device on Tmob? (it definitely should be unlocked)

Thanks guys

No UMA and the Bold does not support the 1700MHz 3G T-Mobile uses. EDGE Only.

I miss UMA as well but the Bold works great on Tmo Edge and wifi for browsing.. I will however move to the Javelin to get my UMA back if and when Tmo gets it!

Is this just a firmware update that can resolve this? This is really disappointing..

No, it is not a firmware update.
UMA only works on T-Moile with T-Mobile branded devices.
No UMA with the Bold.

and its still a debate whether UMA on the bold is possible... whether it is a hardware issue or software issue... some people say that the hardware of 3g and wifi is why you cant have UMA others say that it is possible and just needs a software update....

This is crazy because the same exact thing and device happened to me sunday morning (3:43am) and I also brought an unlocked bold for t-mo.

My question for members in the forum is... being that I had over 30 BBM contacts and over 240 phone book contacts and can't remember anybody's number is there anyway that I can retrieve there info?

Thanks in advance

I just bought a bold today, I am following the same strategy as yours. Once the 8900 is out I am buying one.

Did you do any backups? I'm sure there is data in the database backups that could be retrieved somehow.

I find it hard to believe there isn't, since this is why backups exist.

Jacob,

I did do a backup not that long ago but being that the bold has a different OS and it's unlocked would that cause a problem to it's unlocktiveness (my made up word, lol)

No it won't cause any problems with the unlocktivity.

You can restore the data from any BlackBerry to any other, whether it is locked or unlocked or running on T-Mobile or whoever.
