Default Dropped my 8100, and now it works better :)

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my 8100 2 weeks ago and immediately fell in love with it (how could you not?). I was so careful with it, cleaned it, wiped it, kept it spotless. And then after 1 week, for the first time in my life (I've had cell phones for over 6 years), I DROPPED it! On hard kitchen tile flooring. The sound it made when it hit the tiles sounded like a hammer ramming into it at full force. I literally screamed when I heard it.

The aftermath? Not even a scratch, no joke. I was absolutely shocked because it sounded like it should have split in half. It is in the same condition now that it was when I pulled it out of the box.

However, the funniest thing is that now I am getting better reception and call quality than I was before. I'm getting 5 bars in places I used to get 2-3 and people arent breaking up at all anymore. Also my friends tell me that I sound much clearer on it and thought I might have gotten a new headset or even a new phone. The difference I'm hearing on my end is also substantial and very easily noticeable. I'm in shock.

So, moral of the story. If you drop your 8100, don't assume its the end of the world. Good things can come of it too

Cool story! I dropped mine too and it sounded pretty bad as well. When I picked it up to look for scratches, I didn't find any. I thought I would definitely find more that night when I looked more closely but nope. Nothing at all. I was amazed.

I have a same sorta story but not w/ my Pearl....it was w/ my old Nokia 3390 (yeah I know....off topic).....but I dropped it one day and its front, back, and number pad came off.....but it kept the call that I was on....the caller was still there after I put it back together.....thats why I love Nokias too.....but strictly as cell phones only....this happened many many years ago...it was my first cell phone....and that was a good 7 years ago.

Oh wow, lucky you! Haha I am the same. Cleaning it, wiping it and also keeping it spotless. Maybe I should drop my pearl too, well my phone works pretty good right now anyway.

I had the V3, V3i and drooped those many times and barely got a small scratch on them. On my BB8700, it got drooped about 4 times and only had a small scrape mark on the side (barely noticeable. So far 2 weeks with he pearl it has not been drooped yet. Now that i posted this, I probably jinxed my self and will be drooping it soon (i sure hope not)

Default I dropped mine to get it better like you said

Well, I would really appreaciate your address, phone number, and attorney's name because I dropped mine and it busted into a million little pieces. I am going to sue.......that's right, sue you all for what you gave me the idea to do.... (wakes up from dream)

Hey, look Ma, no scratches! Another successful drop. Anyone interested in video taping it for YOU TUBE?

I am sure Cingular or Blackberry would love that one for a commerical too.

Happy new year everyone!
