Is it possible to set a password on the phone, after you have pushed the upper left button? Keypad lock password somewere/somehow?

It unlocks automaticly in my pocket, so i wanna set a password or something.

oh XXXX, i didnt even read the OP AHAHHA
okay,
i got it, what version OS? ahaha. 5.0.0.5xx+ is standard feature such that it doesn't password lock anymore.

You'll have to downgrade.

and no, there's no options to set it anywhere except to do it through the home screen icons.

With the newer OS, the lock button at top doesn't password lock anymore. The 'K' shortcut to password lock is gone, too. But alt-return still works.

In options > languages, or however it is on your model and OS, you should see a setting to change or turn off then language shortcut. If you turn it off, that will enable the the alt-enter shortcut to password lock. At least that's the way it has been in the past.

For what it is worth, I've been looking for how to change the language short cut on 9700/5.0.0.586 and it isn't there. Or I can't figure it out. I've always had the language shortcut turned off and that setting has carried over to my new blackberrys as I did switch device wizard each time.

As I say, I don't have the setting. Naturally, that's the first place I looked. But I just realized why ... The reason is that I didn't install any other languages.

If one does have other languages installed, the setting alternatives should be there. And if you want to use alt-enter to password lock, then change or disable the language short cut.

fez, what exactly doesn't work? Are you able to disable the language shortcut so that alt-enter does not switch language? If so, what happens with alt-enter? Are you holding alt key, then at same time press enter key?

fez4life,

Please watch your language. No 4 letter words, swearing, cuss words, dirty words. It's in the rules of the forum which you agreed to when you signed up here.

Kratrz, same for you.

I can switch the language options off. After, when typing ALT+ENTER nothing happens.

Interesting. I didn't say before, but if you have dial from keypad enabled, that may be the reason. It works for me on 9700/5.0.0.586.

I just saw another post where someone said 'K' works. If you disable dial from keypad, give that shortcut a try.

Nah... For a moment there I did think the setting was not an option anymore. I confused things because I forgot I removed all extra languages. When you do that, the language shortcut options are hidden/not provided. It was my bad.

The commentary I've read is the previous functioning was a bug. The way it works now is the way it was meant to work in the first place.
