I can honestly say that I am 100% pleased at the moment. I did not purchase the data plan because I am a college student with a completely wireless campus (U of Illinois) and everything is working flawlessly. All the suggestions on the cite have helped me out so much and I am really glad I emptied out my pockets for this one.

Default RED is MY COLOR !

I'm happy to report that my new RED 8310 is working very well.

This is the nicest looking color combination I've seen on a BB so far.

I give it a 9.5 out of 10.

The only reason it does not get a ten is that would probably jinx it

8320 working great here, even UMA has been a blessing. Wouldn't even consider going back to my 8100!

Default Comment and ?

I would rate my 8320 also at 95%. My one concern when I first got it, was the short life on the battery. And I mean, it would be down to 15% at the end of the day w minimal use. However, when I inserted a 2G memory card, the battery life became respectable. Is it because my pics and music are being saved on a memory card instead of phone? I really don't know. So why would a memory card improve battery life, if that's the reason?

No real issues here, the only issue that I am having is with Voice Dialing not initializing but other than that. It's good, rating a 92%.

Default 8320 Problems

I just upgraded from a Pearl to the 8320. I have not yet been able to get my 8320 to Pair with my Acura Handsfree. I have had 3 other BBs and they have all paired so believe this is an 8320 issue. I am just downlo9ading the new .180 software and will see if it helps.

I am not yet used to the keyboard. With the Pearl i had typing issues with the "smart type" helping me. With the 8320 I have "fat thumb" issues pressing two keys. We will see if this get better over time.

I'm a little annoyed with my Curve this morning (this is my second unit, had to XBM the first one after it restarted on every other call in mid-July so this one's a little more than three months old.)

I have my left convenience key set as the keyboard lock. Well, I pressed it this morning, and it opened up my call logs. Argh. So, I rebooted it. Twice. Still getting the call log. Went into options then screen/keyboard, changed it to another setting, saved it, waited and re-set it to keyboard lock. Still just opens up my call log. I even changed the theme a couple times to see if that would help. So, I dug up another one key solution to lock the keyboard (use the k button after changing another setting).

I got interrupted, my phone rang, but I wanted to mention one other thing that's bugging me: despite the fact I have the latest OS installed for the 8300, my calendar alerts still don't work. I tried downloading the calendar patch but it gave me a WSOD. Sigh.

It's been working pretty well (just the calendar alert issue otherwise) all this time. I don't know why it wacked out today.

This is generally a sign of minor corruption in the OS, the very best and longest lasting fix, is to use the desktop manager and re-install the OS.

Kris,

Here is the link for the AT&T OS

Here is the link for the DST Patch

Be sure to install in this order:
1) The OS
2) The Daylight Savings Time Patch

i found that issue with my curve too.. I think if you hold down the left convenience button for too long, it automatically opens up the call log.. you have to just tap the button for it to do what you want.. just FYI.

Well that does seem to work. I've always had to hold it down before for it work. But the tap method works, same with the k button shortcut, but I may re-install the OS anyway.

I've also already applied the DST patch. So, yeah.

No suggestions for the calendar alerts? Awww.

I'm back with my review of the Curve. Besides the lag, i must say everything else has been great. Biggest plus for me is UMA at home. Before this i never got reception and had to leave my phone is odd corners just to keep the signal. I can't express how much I love UMA . I'm going to update the OS for TMO asap and see how much that helps the lag. My biggest problem has been with the convenience key (profiles) it takes so long just to change the alerts. i still experience lag in zen when scrolling between email folders. other than that the phone is great, i look forward to the OS updates to eventually fix the lag.

My 8300 is a delight to own and use:

1. Call quality: excellent - perhaps the best of any phone I have owned in 15 years

2. Handset microphone: excellent - for the most part, people think I'm on a corded phone

3. Screen clarity: excellent - what can I say? everything looks great on it, and I don't seem to have even a single dead pixel

4. Construction/build quality of the device: excellent - I'm aware of some very slight flexibility in the black rubberized side pieces, and I wish they were a bit more reinforced, but I have no squeaks, no dust intrusion, and no problems with build quality

5. Camera quality (overall picture quality): very nice - best I've had to date in a mobile phone - actually good enough to warrant sharing small snapshots with others (although blowing them up much past 5x7 shows the grain)

6. Battery life: seems fine to me, although I routinely plug my Curve into the PC USB connection every night. Once in a while I forget, and use it for 2 days without charging, and despite heavy use (and active background apps like BBWeather and JiveTalk), I've never run the battery down.

7. Internet & E-mail speeds: good, considering that I'm dependent on EDGE. I wish T-Mobile had a faster data network overall, but for now, the Curve seems fine on EDGE. The only thing that feels slow so far is when I use something like Google Maps - images take a while on EDGE to download.

8. Input tools (trackball, keyboard, buttons): best overall ergonomic design I have used to date - excellent

9. Ringers & Speaker phones: nice and loud, and very usable.

10. Operating System performance: generally very stable (I'm on the Singapore Telecom version - latest available for the 8300): once in a great while I find things slowing down. I've had to reboot the phone perhaps twice in the last several weeks, and that may not actually have been necessary.

first of all: I love my Curve but there are some things which should have been better:

pictures from the camera will be REALLY low res when you zoom in. This makes the zoom totally useless. Also the camera lens is unprotected so in a few days/weeks it will get really dirty ruining your pictures. They could have seen this coming.

the mediaplayer lacks support for playlists but this will be fixed in OS 4.3.

also i don't like the protective cover which comes with it but thats minor since you can buy one you like.

Three weeks in and lots of problems. Here are just some:

- dumps entries from calendar.
- freezes after typing in password to unlock.
- shotcuts work only sometimes
- doesn't always show caller's number
- will only accept some music on to SD card, although all correct format
- freezed/crashes when playing music from SD card

etc etc. Seems I've been unlucky though.
