I upgraded to .71 yesterday and I still have EDGE. Try removing the battery and sim card for a few moments and then put them back in and try it again.

Phone's been off charge since 6am and did some heavy texting and phone use today. The battery indicator shows 79%, so I'm impressed.

Remember also the battery % remaining has to do with the battery state. Those who have been running your units for months will see battery power reduce faster than those of us newbies

I have OS64 and after 33 hours off charge, probably close to or over 200 emails and 50 or so txts used, plus a couple pics taken/sent/recvd and 32 minutes of phone calls I am at 55% battery life.

I think this hype about extra battery life in OS 71 is a little overkill. It all depends on what programs you have running.

If you use any IM program your battery life drains QUICK. When I use an IM for AIM and/or Yahoo I get about a day of battery life. Also playing MP3's and Video drains battery as the screen stays active. Now that I stopped I get close to three days with normal use.

Then you are lucky. When some speak on here about teh fdiference those speak about the cingualr to cingular and we see teh diference. No one would report it in here if they did not see the fact and I am sure all know how they used it and how they are using after the upgrade. For example my times comparison are close to each way i used it before and after.

Not true rkkeller as I used RIM's yahoo messenger for an hour straight and was on the phone quite often and the battery didn't drain quickly. Yes it does depend on what you have running.....like maybe bluetooth running gps. That's the only thing that I've ever found to drain my battery quickly.

Should not be hard to do as 95% of all computers are on Windows OS!

So what is the difference between the .71 and .88 update? I downloaded the .88 update from Cingular, but my phone says it's at .71. Since I'm a blackberry as of 2 days ago, can someone explain this to me please?

Survey say: 20% as of 07:00. I dont know that this is a true improvement from what it was before. I still have the drive home. I guess it could get to 15% Just to give you all an update. Nite Nite!

Any upgrade from .42 is a big change. I found .42 to be buggy and caused a lot of crashes. I don't get those any more.

I was just speaking from my usage. I went from having to charge every day to now doing it every other day and sometimes can make 3 days and all I did was stop running my RIM Yahoo IM and OZ AIM IMer. I still IM I just use the sms IM forwarding not a program.

I used to have both running 24/7, no other changes.

The .88 is the version of the whole update, whil ethe .71 is just the OS for the Pearl.
