Default SMS on new 5.0 OS

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the SMS viewing settings for the newest OS? I text more than anything with my phone and I hate the new OS because it forces me to read my texts in a tiny strip. I don't need the keyboard to come up automatically, I don't always want to respond. I don't need to see every conversation I've ever had with the person, just the last text is fine.
I had the newest OS installed for a day and it almost caused me to smash the phone because of the new SMS, the fact that Quickpull doesn't work anymore, apps keep disappearing from my home screen, and the only new feature I like is the swipe and scroll.
This new OS is making me HATE blackberry. Someone please let me know how to change the SMS settings if possible.
If they want to make serious changes, change the way the webpages show up on the phone. Only about 1/4 of them show up correctly. Ebay can't show past the first page of a search, and god forbid you want to go back a page on most sites. Most of the time it just refreshes the page or just closes the browser all together.

Threaded SMS has actually grown on me. I didn't like it at first because of similar reasons to yours, but I text so much back and forth with some people that it's practically like having an IM conversation anyway. It has also made my inbox far easier to sort through. Changing the layout from bubbles to stripes made it easier to read, and if you don't want the keyboard displayed because you aren't going to reply and you want more screen space for reading, then just place your thumb on any key in the top row and swipe down. To get the keyboard back, just click in the reply box. As far as I know, there's no way to go back to legacy style.

I miss QuickPull too, but until they make an updated version, I'm really not that concerned with having to do an occasional physical battery pull.

Which apps are disappearing from your home screen?

Default Don't like the new SMS

Count me in as another User that does NOT like the SMS in 5.0.

It is amazing to me that RIM can screw up something so simple.

Default Quickpull

I went to Steelthorn's website and found a beta for quickpull that is supposed to work with 5.0. I can't post links since I don't have enough posts, but it was pretty easy to find.

I don't think RIM screwed anything up considering a lot of people WANTED threaded SMS. They are going to take the majority over a small minority.

I have an older Beta Version of the 5.0 OS on my BB. The annoying thing with the new SMS is (besides the chat-like look) that even SMS's that I have read stay in bold in the list. So I don't know which ones I have read and which ones are unread.

Has that been fixed with this official release?

No I don't mean downgrade. I mean when you open the sms and mms. On the keypad, you hold alt and then press S.

It will look like it did in 4.X OS

Oh I get it,..
From what I see TTsoldier is using a model 9000, he probably has a physical Alt-key.
Any clue where to get it on the storms??

You cannot press/hold ALT and then press S (or any other key for that matter) on a Storm. The touch screen doesn't operate that way. You can certainly hover but simultaneously pressing multiple keys... uhhh nope.

I have to agree. I do not like the new SMS AT ALL. Its just awful. I hope they make it so I can use it the old way. Just terrible.
