I've got an 8200 from T-Mobile. I love the large keys, the flip form factor, the screen is pretty good, build quality is so-so. I've always used suretype devices, but I had a full keyboard blackberry (the pager type) years ago and it was fine.

I'm considering switching to the 8900, and I was curious if anyone else had done so and if they had a comparison of the two. My biggest beef with the Flip is the LAG. Anyone who says these things don't lag is lying. I've deleted all nonessentials, followed all the best practices herein, RMA'd the thing once, and the bottom line is that it is too slow for the new OS. You click on an icon, wait, wait, then boom, it launches. I miss the old BB's that were (less pretty in the OS) but damn fast at everything.

Does the 8900 have the lag when you click an icon, etcetera? Does the OS interface feel smooth and fast like the old BB's?

The Curve 8900 will be a great upgrade. The fast processor and more memory makes things snappy. You won't notice that same lag. Applications open much faster on the Curve 8900.

From Pearl to Javelin and its as fast as the name indicates! Quite a fortunate nomenclature for a BlackBerry I'd say
Miss the SureType though. RIM really waxed the competition with that one.

You will love the curve, I went from 8220 to 8900 my only complaint are the keys much smaller, and my nails don't love it so much, I preferred the flip for writing on, but there you go you can't have it all, I tried going back to the flip, but it was too slow after using the 8900..

There's no lag on my 8900. But if you really like the big keys and Suretype for typing fast (like I did with my Pearl) I have news for you: the 8900 ain't that easy. I make way more mistakes and type slower for sure than my 8100. The keys are easy to push so I can push the one next to it by mistake a lot. I have resigned myself to typing slower and more carefully. I wouldn't go back to the pearl, but for sheer typing speed it wins.

I agree with you, but there is/was a lag on the flip with the older OS, true about the typing I am always making mistakes on mine, but I love the size, having said that, I'm moving on to the Bold next will arrive in a couple of days, talk about crackberry lol got them all now...

The man at Orange specifically recommended the Curve to me and said (basically) that it was much better than the bold as no one really uses 3G. I think he gave pretty good advice.
