It worked for me when I entered my city into the lookup area and selected 'lookup'.

You could always just go to weather.com and search for your city there. For instance, Toronto's page is:
http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave...om=search_city
so the location ID is CAXX0504.

You can also do this:

Quote:
How It Works:
You first ask Weather.com for your city's location ID. This city can be any known city in the world. In order to get the location ID, we first need to search for the city's location ID. This can be done by accessing this url: http://xoap.weather.com/search/search?where=[city name] and providing the city as the query for the variable "where".

For example: Lets say we wish to know the weather in...Tokyo! The url would look lik this: http://xoap.weather.com/search/search?where=tokyo. Weather.com would now present us with an XML feed which basically includes the name of requested city/cities along with their state or country and the location id of the listed cities.
Here's how the output looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<!--This document is intended only for use by authorized licensees of The Weather Channel.
Unauthorized use is prohibited. Copyright 1995-2004, The Weather Channel Enterprises, Inc.
All Rights Reserved.-->
<search ver="2.0">
<loc id="JAXX0085" type="1">Tokyo, Japan</loc>
</search>

From the above XML output, we can see the city along with the country and the location id! It's located between the <loc> tags. From the location id, we can use it to rertrieve the current/latest weather for the city. The location id for our city (Tokyo) happens to be JAXX0085. Now that we have our city code, we can now obtain the weather forcast.
In order to do that, we need to request another XML feed from weather.com with this url: http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/[loc id]?cc=*&prod=xoap&par=xxx&key=xxx&un it=m.

Default zip

another me too in a way. If you look through the above posts, and do go to the weather.com site and punch in the zip rather than finding a city, the zip is what shows up in the locale id anyway. It works.
