Default Problem Loading Curve OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I have several BB 8300's that are needing the OS installed. I have downloaded the desktop manager and v4.2 of the handheld OS.

When I try to install the OS, it erases the existing files, loads the first part of the OS, then when the manager has the handheld initialize, the handheld keeps connecting and disconnecting. This in turn, causes the manager to time out.

Is there something that can be done to fix this? I need some good help here!

Thanks in advance!!!!

I would recommend you make sure you have Desktop Manager verison 4.2, Service Pack 2, loaded to your PC. What PC OS are you running?

The reload of the user data to the BB can take a while, according to size of the messaage database and the call log database, especially. Before upgrading the OS, I would recommend at least minimizing the call log database by deleted most of your call logs, as welll as many messages as you can. A reload should take 20-30 minutes, and I have seen some with large message and call log data take over an hour.

I currently have 4.3 loaded on my Win XP machine... Does the 4.3 have problems, should I downgrade to 4.2.2?

I fully recommend you go with 4.2.2.

Also if you have had problems, reinstall the OS package you downloaded, and then reboot your machine.

That did not work either. I think it may have something to do w/ the handheld itself. It keeps connecting and then disconnecting rapidly.

Six? What happened to them?

What do they all have in common?

Do they have an IT Policy on them preventing an OS upgrade?

not sure, none have any os on them. Just trying to load a OS on them so they work... Other than that, they should be perfect.

The two links above are really the only two hopes you have to get them working. Other than that... you have 6 bricks.

Where did they come from?

Did you miss our question about the origin of the BBs?

I don't know the origin...

What is confusing is the os will begin to load fine w/ the DM, but when the phone is restarted, it starts going nuts....

So it seems like there is a boot issue... not sure

ok, they just showed up on your desk one day?

Surely you know where/how/why they were put in your keep to load OSs on?

There is no root boot system. The OS is what you need. Those two links above are your lifesavers if this is important to you. Likewise, being vague about my questions won't help either. It might just help to determine if there is an IT policy on the device, or whatever.

I am trying to help.

How do you know they have no OS on them?

Not trying to avoid the question. I resell BB's frequently and my supplier had several w/ no OS. When you turn them on, it says no os. Not sure why they don't have the OS, they just don't.

for the constant boot/reboot issue (which i have seen a few times from helping others) i took out the battery, connected via usb (4.2 sp2 or 4.3. both worked) then reloaded os. after the load it will stall. put the batterry back in and it will continue.

good luck
