On the 8100 there was a way to put music or videos in the root of the sd card that would come up when you went into music or videos until you explored for it.

Is there a way to hide the same files on the 8320? When I moved my card from the 8100 the 8320 automatically showed everything.

I put the file in the folder below...and it would come up ONLY when I opened up the music or video file from the Media Icon on the 8100. Now on the 8320 it looks like it searches for any music or video file on the SD or internal memory.

That method works great on the 8100, but the Curve searches all folders for content and you can't hide them anymore.

Not true for pics. You can hide them into a folder a few levels deeper...something like Pictures/root/bin/001/hawtpR0nhere.

But you can't do this for vids....it'll auto-find them no matter where you try to hide your stuff.

Yes that is how I have mine, but like the OP asked you can't do it like you can on the 8100.

I'm talking about the Curve.....you can do this just fine on the Curve for PICTURES. I have mine hidden several levels down. You have to manually surf there to see those pictures. But you can't hide videos.

Well no way to hide videos that I'm aware of on the Curve. However, you CAN hide the Media Player application from view entirely. That way at least you don't have as much to fear from someone who isn't blackberry-savvy just picking up your phone and seeing your stuff. They'd have to go into the applications menu, click option button and then press "Show All."

To hide the application, just scroll to it in your application viewer, Option Button, then Hide.

You can also make a new folder on the Applications screen, create nested folders inside of that as desired, and hide the Media Player application down in there. Name the folder something innocent (Profiles for example) and then someone would have to surf down several levels to get to the player app.

Other than that....I'd say keep the sensitive stuff off your phone.

I wonder how many of us have hidden mass amounts of pron on our devices. Interesting, I knew I wasn't the only one, however didn't think there would be a thread on it.

I pretty much assume anytime someone posts about wanting to hide pictures on their phone they are really talking about hiding porn.

What about locking a folder so when you connect the BB to a computer via USB, your files don't pop up automatically?

a program from adobe (don't know which) does that and it is really annoying, even if it isn't porn.

Very simple. Disable that program on our PC or laptop. The problem is not your BB, it is your auto-opening program.

Try taking one letter off the extension of the file, or adding 1. So for a .jpg file, you'd cut down to .jp or make it .jpge. Something like that.

Then to view, just explore, change it back and you're done. Not really convenient, but it doesn't accidentally get opened that way.

Also, on your computer, you can associate a new extension with a viewer so that on your computer, there's no need to change the extension.
