I know of atleast 5 people who have gone out of country to get healthcare because of the US costs. Canadians have good healthcare.

Gonna second this one, but they took a month to go through all the test, approval and procedure. While I was waiting I was able to get hooked on painkillers instead.

True, you, the patient, have a right to refuse, but in my experience they will pressure you and argue with you. I had to be taken once to the ER by ambulance and I refused the oxygen and IV. They argued and argued with me til I told them I was a nurse and I knew my rights as a patient. They eventually stopped bugging me.

yes but once you tell them you want to go in the bus they are pretty much clear then to treat you, unless you specifically tell them you dont want that treatment. But on styx case she didnt want to go and refused transport thats a totally different afair.

Mikey you can be sued no matter what its just how fair and logical the judge and/or jury is. The good samaritan laws are really bogus if a lawyer were to find out you took first aid in high school they could consider you medically trained.

I would need to hit the massive LOTTO in order to pay my medical bills for my TIA attacks. EMS rides each time over the last 2 years, Cat Scans and MRI's. I have insurance and I'm still in the 6 figures for what I owe in medical bills so trust me when I say, the medical insurance industry sucks when it comes to what they cover.

I'm glad that when I donated a kidney to my mom, I didn't need to pay that bill due to some foundation that covered it. Just the bills that we had coming in just having a new baby and that wasn't easy with my wife being off work because of our new daughter and me losing my job 2 months before the surgery, there wasn't a company that would hire me knowing I was going to need time off to recover.

I count my blessing daily for my good health

My sister is undergoing brain surgery as I write this. wonder what she will end up as a bill?

Insurance....insurance everyone should have insurance then we the Insurees still have to come outta pocket for a certain percentage even though we pay monthly premium.

Just glad i do have Insurance and have never really needed it

I'm glad she is ok. My wife goes to surgery tomorow for a umbilical hernia, yesterday our anniversary dinner was cancel because she found it and we were worry, today (my birthday) she went to our home town with our baby because our doctor is there, i'll be driving home in the morning.

The bill will go over de 1,200 dlls plus operating room + hospital room + medicines....

I don't know the conditions of the health care system in US or Canada, but in México they suck, and the private doctors (good ones) aren't cheap. I'm going bank hunting in the morning while the Surgery last because i'm no way taking her to a public hospital.

@ styxgroupi: didn't mean to steal your thread i'm just worry for the surgery and wanted to let i out cause i don't want to look worry in front of her.
