Default Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.2283 / 7.1.0.825 (All Languages)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.2283 (All Languages)

Package Version: 7.1.0.2283
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.825
Software Platform: 5.1.0.593
File name: 9900jAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel2283_PL5.1.0.593_A7.1.0.8 25_Vodafone_DE.exe
File size:286.22MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...374C8919D2074E

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

I've got nothing on this OS. I haven't even installed it yet.

Heard some of the included modules are older than the current versions (BBID, Twitter, Facebook)

Some have commented that this build runs cooler than the last two builds. (I can't confirm or deny)

It has battery life over 5x that of the previous OS's. I'm going on a week now on the same charge with the battery indicator still at 85%! The phone runs so sold that you can't actually touch it for fear of frostbite...

Oh ya, I forgot, this OS is actually BB10, but RIM hasn't told anyone yet!

I can't tell whether this ^^^^^^^ is serious or not. Not sure I want to risk this yet after all the wipes and re-installs I've had to do lately. Anyone tried this build on orange uk yet?

Seems to be a fine OS, doesn't have the AT&T mic bug.

Ha, ha. I laugh every time I hear people say the battery life of the latest release is much better than the previous release. If it actually was that much better incrementally, the battery would be self-charging by now.

Don't get taken in by stevew's original post. In a subsequent post he agreed with ZombieBerry's post to pay little or no attention to the original post.
In any event, I worry that a longer battery life means the BB is not working very hard. Up on the 28th floor where I am located most of the day, where the signal is week, particularly H+, my charger can barely keep the battery from discharging while the BB strains to keep locked on a signal.

As I don't know how many updates we will get for the 9900 now that OS10 is live, I installed this OS after saving, then deleting all data and programs via a security clear. Knew before hand that I would need a BES activation code. All went well. No obvious changes so far as I reinstall third party programs.
I have seen and handled the Z10 and it is pretty slick. However I will wait to see the Q10 with the physical key board. I liked the larger touch screen on the Torch, but like the physical keypad on the 9900. Reminds me of the iconic 9000.

We should still continue to see OS updates pushed by the carriers, and continued releases of leaked OS versions.

I see that there is already another update released and posted today from Telecom New Zealand. It still surprises me that with the release of OS 10 devices that RIM, now Blackberry, would be deploying resorces for updating an operating system which has been replaced with a completely new operating system from the ground up and for hardware that is almost two years old.

For what it is worth, given that .825 has already been replaced with .861, even before it was "stuck" above, the only glich I have found so far with .825 is that my PlayBook would not bridge with my 9900 after installing .825. I uninstalled the bridge on the 9900 and reinstalled it and everything is working fine now. It may have been a problem with the install of .825 or different bridging policies between Vodafone DE and Rogers.

Just because you see the newer version now, don't assume they are still at work on "an old OS" (as if they are splitting their resources...they aren't) cause leaks are in the 96x range right now and we are still seeing OS updates for old handsets like the 8520.

Carriers who offer OS 7 devices still need the phones to work with their network. The older devices do not just wink out of existence when BB10 was released.
