Default 4.1 on Verizon 7250

Please Login to Remove!

I have about 20 Blackberries in my organization and more and more recently we've all been getting the infamous 'data connection refused' error message. After calling Verizon numerous times, I was finally escalated to their senior network engineer who told me that the 4.0.2.41 handheld code had a bug in it that was causing the error.

He went on to tell me that the Verizon 4.1 software would be released at the end of April - "April 28th or 29th" were his exact words. The only solution they had for the dcr error was to downgrade the code and lose tethering capabilities.

I can confirm that what you heard is correct, I didn't believe that it came from Verizon myself when I heard it.

Talking about 20 BBs, we have close 6,000, luckily not many of them are 7250.

Will the 4.1 give us added functionality with BIS 2.0? Currently the 7250 does not get additional icons for each email address being used and there is no icon for going directly to the BIS configuration page.

More importantly, will Dial By Name work with Verizon 4.1?

From the latest Vendor.xml, it appears they were testing 4.1.0.241 and will be releasing 4.1.0.323 for the 7250 - not sure when, though.

SaskTel (Canada) will be releasing 4.1.0.329 at some point as well. Their download page has not yet been updated either, though.

I wonder, will this also fix the roaming indicator problem some of us have been having?

Could you elaborate on this. What effect does this have on your service?

No material effect that I can tell other than a persistent roaming triangle at the top of the screen next to 1X.

Well, I called Verizon yesterday and due to "bugs" with the code, it was pushed back "supposedly" to May 5th. So let's see what happens now...
