Default Set up problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have just installed the blackberry desktop software but the e mail part does not work. I think I should have selected the BES option but I didn't. Am I right?

Can I change the option to BES without reinstalling?

Help appreciated

Thanks

Is your phone on a BES?

How do you know if your phone is on BES? Sorry if this is dumb.

generally, if you have to ask, its not.

Is your BB issued by work?

what are you hoping to do with the email part of desktop manager?

BB is my own but I am using it to check work e mail.
E mails are coming to my BB fine but the sync process with outlook 2003 on my laptop doesn't work.
When I installed the desktop software I did not select the BES option (I selected the other option) as I did not know the answer. A colleague in the same position says I should have selected the BES option. Do I have to uninstall then reinstall or is there another option.

Thanks

If you are truly on a BES, the only way to receive e-mail and sync calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. is to Enterprise Activate the handheld. This is typically done by the BES Admin. Does your calendar and contacts sync to the handheld wirelessly or only when you connect through the usb cable to your laptop? Wth BES service, e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks will wirelessly sync. With BIS, you will get e-mail but in this scenario, I don't think you could sync calendar and contacts except with the cable. And I believe there are settings that will control how the messages are treated on the server side. It may just be an incorrect setting...

Is the desktop manager program loaded on your work pc? If this is the case, the program will "see" the BES but I still believe you must go through the Enterprise Activation process before you will receive synchronization.

Just a little more information needed...
