Default Bloomberg for Blackberry Tour

Please Login to Remove!

Have 2 questions

I am trying to access Bloomberg on my Tour and the icons are extremely small. Is there a way to change this?

Also, when I try to access Bloomberg email, I get an error:
"Uncaught exception: Illegal font height"

Anyone know if there are any compatibility issues?

I'm sure there are issues. The screen resolution is different than previous model BlackBerry devices.

The Tour was only released three days ago.
I doubt Bloomberg has updated their app that quickly. Have you contacted them?

Yes, they told me that the software is exactly the same. I figured that the resolution may be an issue, but would that prevent email from Bloomberg?

I doubt you're getting good info from them.
My gut tells me you'll be seeing some updated software from them in the nearish future.

Just spoke with Bloomberg and they are aware of this issue. Obviously the last person I spoke with over there had no clue because I was told that they couldn't do anything.

If you log in to Bloomberg and go to the command line, you would type:

upgr 1980/all.jad

Then hit enter. It should resolve the font and icon size issues.

works fine

Default Bloomberg on BB - Tour Fix

You need to log into Bloomberg and type in "upgr 1981/all.jad" this is the alpha code until the next full release. 1980 will not fix the error.

how do you do this? I can browse to Bloomberg.com, but I didn't "log in" and do not see a "command line."

This thread about the Bloomberg MDS service... not a website.

You need to be a Bloomberg Anywhere user & have your B-Unit.

The easiest way would be to call 212-318-2100 and have them walk you thru it. They'll have you goto a website, download the app & show you how to put your B-Unit into token mode to login. It'll take about 5 mins.

Bloomberg has now posted an updated version (1.9.8.1) specifically for the 9630 Tour on their mobile site. This resolves the error. (Note: this application is only for subscribed Bloomberg Anywhere users.):

1. From your Tour, go to http://m.bloomberg.com
2. Select Blackberry
3. Scroll down to Bloomberg Anywhere and select Download
4. Scroll down to the 3rd installation link: Bloomberg on Blackberry 1.9.8.1 Compatible with 9630 Tour

If you already installed the previous version (1.9.7.10) this will upgrade without any trouble (i.e., no need to uninstall first) and you should not need your B-UNIT to authenticate again, but it does require a reboot. According to Bloomberg TS, they hope to have compatibility built into the next monthly release so you won't have to manually download.

We've been using the upgr finction to pull the 1981/all.jad file (which does correct the illegal font height issues) however logins after updating the BB software typically require you to use your BUNIT for the 1st login.

No, that's the way the main screen is set up. It's just a teaser view. Use the menu key to select "My Stocks" and you'll see them all. Unfortunately the app is not so customizable to allow you to choose "My Stocks" as your initial view. But then for a free app, it's still pretty awesome.

Please note... this thread is NOT related to the free Bloomberg application that you can download via App World.

This thread is about the Bloomberg Anywhere MDS application for Enterprise Users.
