Just do the update.

Most likely you won't even need to resend them. However, if you do, go to Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit the menu key and select "Register Now." After that just use the "Manage Internet Email" icon on the home screen to log into your BIS setup and resend service books. You can also do this on the main BIS site on your PC. Or you can just call ATT and have them resend your service books.

Did the update and everything is working fine. There are definitely a few changes from 4.2.xxx but I like it. Thanks for all the help. My guess is I don;t have to do the service books because I am still receiving texts and e-mails.

Open one of your emails and scroll up into the headers. Make sure the "Received Using" field shows your email address. If it says "Unknown" you'll need to resend your service books.

I upgraded from .81 and overall my BB seems to operate better. Big improvment in memory leaks. Previously I coul literally watch memory drop by the minute. In addition the bluetooth (Jawbone 2) is much clearer.
When I upgraded I did have a Calendar sync issues with my BES Server, but i removed the Desktop [Sync] Service book and all was well again.

You shouldn't need to remove the Sync service book. Did you reactivate on the BES? If so, and then you remove the Sync service book your data will not be sync'd (backed up) on the BES.

After some of these upgrades, I've had to go back into my Calendar and turn Wireless Sync back on.

Same here, any ideas? Sometimes my flash will just stay lit, and I have to do a battery pull. Sometimes it just locks the whole phone up. Any clue?

Okay, I have tried 3 times so far to install I currently have v 4.2.2.170 and I followed the steps including deleting the file when said and what not. It took that many times for it to finally realize I was trying to upgrade. No idea why. Kind of annoying. But atleast it works now Just waiting for it to install all now...I'm excited.

My BB DM (4.7) does not see the software. I removed the vinder file, but It does not see the BB OS software AT ALL. I have her phone currently running v4.5.0.81 (Platform 2.7.0.78) is it even worth the update?

I upgrade from .81 to .99 last night. Everything seems to be working fine, except I can't send texts. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I did do a battery pull.

I found the problem. Update deleted members of my address groups. Just had to add them and all is well.

I went in the camera options and lowered it from Large (1600 x 1200) to Medium (1024 x 768) and all is well again. Could just have been a memory issue.

Default 8310 upgrade

I'm a newbie. When I connect my BB 8310 to upgrade, it will give the little "click next to start" and then it says "fatal error, try again." Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks!

Oh, its a Suncom Curve unlocked on T-Mobile.

m.youtube.com?

I would recommend a battery pull reboot, try again. This OS worked fine for me with YouTube.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If you don't already have it you can
2. Download the OS file listed above to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.
