I am still using my old 7520. Never had issues and has served me well and continues to do so. I think that when it finally goes I am going to switch to a Sprint BB. I will miss the PTT.

Q-chat is now being billed as Nextel's Direct Connect now with Sprint. The latest news is that it will be coming in 4th quarter of 2008.

Before when I had my Nextel store, it was all dandy and fine. Customers were happy, people spent money, we fixed lots of phones.

Sprint comes along, ok no problem business as usual. Then we have to start selling sprint. Ok, not bad, Nextel still a main thing here. All of a sudden Nextel takes a dive and the business pretty much stops (repairs and sales) and everything we are doing now is Sprint. Then they require us to fix Sprint phone now. Hell breaks loose! Then all of a sudden, they start shutting down all the Sprint Coorporate service centers shut down and direct traffic to us! Now hell freezes over! We are selling more than ever, but customers are unhappy, everyday people come in to complain about sprint, and their repair program is just garbage.

Now the store is sold to some other poor soul, and I have never been happier. And now i'm left with a hate for Sprint and Treo's.

Oh, and ReadyLink is garbage and so is the hybrid phones, and I've moved 1000s of them! Our business customers never seemed to be happy with them. Treos too! Blah!

Bigdaadio! should be able to port over with no problems. Since they still have diffrent billing systems it will be like signing up to new carrier. you keep your phone number and they waive activation fees.

Well- I'm trying to switch and keep my awesome unlimited VOICE plan-
Sprint says (store and CS) its not available.
Was hoping somebody had a "loophole" to get them to switch my existing plan....
Anybody?
Thanks

try the newer nextel bb. I think it's the 7000? Nextel is slow. I'm afraid you'll have to give up unlimited with sprint. No workaround as they are still 2 seperate networks and billing systems STILL.

If Qchat is available to more than Motorola, I don't think anything will stop Sprint from putting it in a Palm. That may be where the loyal BB users will find some comfort.

Palm can't even deliver their new OS until the end of 08 and you want them to add Qchat? Personally I think Palm will be out of business before Qchat ever comes into being.

I used to be Nextel until last spring. They went south fast. I had been experiencing so much trouble and complained so much they let me out of my early termination fee.

I WIN!!

if you really wanted the PTT functions + Blackberry mail & BES integration, the 7520 is not a bad way to go. Yes, it is old, but until 2 weeks ago when I finally went to the 8830, it served its purpose well.

Just my .10 cents.
Like you I had Nextel for 6 years between regular phones and BB's. I just dumped my 7100i for a Sprint 8830.

I just talked with Nextel BB Customer Service and the said that there not sure if Nextel is planning to release another BB. They also said that if they are working on one it will be a highly kept secret mean that nextel bb customer service will find out at about the same time we do.

I can't believe Sprint destroyed Nextel in little over a year.
They even took all the advertising down around the Bay Area, it's like Nextel does not exsist.

It looks Vodafone is doing the same to Verizon but without any hoopla. They took down the Verizon sign in the Walnut Creek office and replacing it with Vodafone. Are they planning to do away with Verizon soon, will the Verizon guy now speak with a european accent?

Hey guys from a few insiders and such... I got word that there will be a new nextel blackberry but not a nextel, yes it will be qchat. Also qchat phones are reported to be released in february, I know some of the CSR's that are trained in supporting the new test qchat phones. I got to see one working, the response time is less than 1 second, though I did see one take 3 seconds, why the guy on the other end just finished using it. I wish I could have one myself but no luck :/ As for the BB's with qchat, no eta but, no word on them at all except that there will be one... That is one of them highly kept secrets...

This also doesn't belong here but another kept secret is sprint is already deploying towers with evdo rev. b, so where's the phones to go with it?
