Rebranding...by definition could be a number of things:
1) When the physical branding is missing, and is replaced.
2) When the vendor ID of a device is that of RIM or another carrier, and changed.
3) When the boot up splash screen is that of RIM or another carrier, and changed.
4) When the default theme is that of another carrier, and changed.

End result is my friend carried the phone to a local blackberry repair store and they told her the phone got locked, so they are going to rebrand the phone and then unlock it again so it could work on our network.
Was it unlocked with the MFI software? That can screw up a device easily.
Let me ask this, where did she buy the device? New, used, from Rico on the street corner, eBay? Details help.
At this point in time, I'm really not sure. I'll speak with her later and find out. Only thing I know about this phone for sure is that it is an unlocked Verizon phone.
9530's were not unlockable, or even recognized by the leaked version of the MFI software. Anything newer than the 9000 requires a newer version of the software and configuration files.
