wrt to wifi 8320 , our guy got a look at the AT&T roadmap in the beginning of July 08 and say's that both the Bold and a Wi-Fi 8320 were on there for Q3 '08.
Looks like at least one (Bold) will miss the date.

AT&T will be releasing IMS. This has been the case for quite some time and is hardly new news. While it will be capable of doing GAN/UMA over IMS, no word on compatibility with current devices has been confirmed. The logic for this compatibility is fairly strong, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see if the BlackBerry 8820 or BlackBerry 8120 or even the BlackBerry 8320 on AT&T would work with the service we've come to love on T-Mobile.

I work for a tmobile store and there is a contest going on. If a rep sells 10 blackberrys or more with data plans and passes a web training test with an 80% or above we win a unreleased blackberry. I was told by someone pretty in the know that it was a bold. I dont believe them and think there talking about the javelin. But who knows i sold 7 blackberrys in two weeks so just 3 to go. |

With some traditional VoIP calls, the ISP is merely a transport to another provider. If your internet service provider offers VoIP technology through their own lines (BellSouth/AT&T, Comcast, etc), then that would be the only time the internet service provider would also be your carrier. Otherwise, someone else always is the carrier to your ISP's transport.
For example, Comcast cable modem with Vonage phone service. With T-Mobile's UMA service, your ISP will be the transport, but T-Mobile will still be the carrier (your usage takes away from your monthly minutes).

I understand the comcast/vonage scenario, because that's what I have, but it still requires a Vonage phone adapter installed to be able to make calls through the cable internet service. How exactly do you make phone calls on your wifi bb using tmobile minutes on a cable internet connection? |

Ok, did some more research, and it looks to me like an 8320 with UMA still only works with a wireless router from that carrier, i.e. Tmo. At home, you would have to have a tmobile wireless router to make wifi calls and away from home, wifi calling only works when connected to a tmo hotspot. So, not like I could sit in any airport or hotel with standard wireless internet and make calls over wifi, right? |

Nope. 
You don't need the carrier's router. They only offer it for users who don't already have a home wireless network.
You can use UMA from any wireless network you are connected to. it does not have to be a T-Mobile hotspot.
Yes, you can sit in an airport or hotel with a regular wireless network and still use UMA to make phone calls over WiFi. |

Well, that's very cool. Wish Verizon had that. Wish I had HSDPA too. Heck, I just wish I had wifi on my BB. Eh, I went for network before features. Love the network though. |

was curious, so i swung by my local at&t store and spoke with an employee who's helped me in the past regarding info/service.
He says that his store was told that THEY will be receiving them at the end of August (which is... NOWWWWWW), and they heard this week that they should receive this in a week.........
