Default Pearl no longer a "preorder"?

Please Login to Remove!

I just noticed that some time this evening, all references to "preorder" disappeared off the Pearl on Verizon's web site. This morning, there was a big red splash "PRE-ORDER" across the Pearl picture under the devices menu. It's gone. Under the Next Phones Now web site, it said available for preorder this morning, now it just says "shop now".

I placed an order earlier today and it's now telling me I should receive the device in 2-3 business days and that the order has been processed. All references to preorder are gone.

No I am a current subscriber on the $79.99 bundled 450 minute plan. My contract isn't up until June 2008 and at the pace and uncertainty of cell phones and providers these days, I really don't want to be locked in until June 2010. But regardless, it was always my understanding that you can sign onto a plan irregardless of whether or not you commit to a contract. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Check your business discounts, it's showing $99.00 for me with new activation and itxxx8217;s available right now. Too bad Verizon signal is bad in my house. Waiting for GSM version.

The pre-order did change...

I just ordered my phone and paid extra for overnight shipping...I just got Fedex confirm, and I will have my new toy tomorrow by 3pm.

Good luck everyone, VZW actually moved up the date for once...

I looked on the website yesterday, and when i went to upgrade my phone (just to see what would happen), I got a full retail of 299 (no discounts, etc.). I am on the 109.00 crap load of minutes plan and a new every 2 (I am up on 11/27), so i guess i will be waiting....

I just spoke to my local Verizon store (in SC) and they will have them to sell on Sunday. They even quoted Sunday as the launch date so they have apparently moved it up.

I have called the customer service line 3 times and each time they tell me I can't order it till the 8th.

How is everyone buying them. I already have a plan and am not eligable for my new every 2 so I plan on paying retail... but it is a business account

Buy it from the website...you'll have to choose a plan from the website... doesn't matter which one... just do it... and when you receive the phone, call VZW CS to cancel the plan and tell them you are keeping the phone. They will charge you the full retail price. This would be the same as calling CS and ordering the phone straight paying retail.

When I tried to order the phone phone over CS yesterday... they actually told me to do what I said above. So... that's what I'm doing. When my Pearl arrives on Monday i'm going to call and cancel the plan it comes with... and just activate the pearl on my current plan.

Can anyone let me know when they get theirs if it has the magnetic holster thing. I love that how the 7130 know when it is in the holster or not thus changing phone and ringer settings. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you wouldn't be locked into a 2year contract and have to pay the fee to get out of it?

Not if you do it withing 30 days of receiving the phone. You have 30 days to cancel the service/return the phone. If you cancel the service within the 30 days but keep the phone VZW simply charges you retail for the phone.

Call CS and confirm this if you want. They're the ones that told me to do this in the first place

I just wanted to provide some information in case there are others in a similar situation. I am currently in a 2 year contract that expires June 2008. There isn't a chance I can wait until then to upgrade, so I've been weighing my options on whether I should pay full retail or sign a new 2 year contract. I feel there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the fast pace of the cell phone industry and I can almost bet I will not make it to the end of another 2 year agreement. Therefore, these numbers are based on the assumption that you will not finish out your 2 year contract and will cancel early resulting in an ETF (Early Termination Fee) of $175 prorated over 24 months. So here are the phone costs over the period of 24 months

Code:
	2 Year	Full Retail
Months	199.99	319.99
1	367.70	319.99
2	360.41	319.99
3	353.12	319.99
4	345.82	319.99
5	338.53	319.99
6	331.24	319.99
7	323.95	319.99
8	316.66	319.99
9	309.37	319.99
10	302.07	319.99
11	294.78	319.99
12	287.49	319.99
13	280.20	319.99
14	272.91	319.99
15	265.62	319.99
16	258.32	319.99
17	251.03	319.99
18	243.74	319.99
19	236.45	319.99
20	229.16	319.99
21	221.87	319.99
22	214.57	319.99
23	207.28	319.99
24	199.99	319.99
So basically unless you are dead sure you are going to keep the phone for more than 8 months, you are better off paying full retail.

If you have the $79.99 or higher for minutes and you've had that for 3 months or more then you should qualify as a merit customer and can upgrade every 12 months for the discounted price BUT not online, you must call in or go into a store.

Yes it does. It doesn't come with much of a case though, I'd call it a "slip cover" (no belt clip or loop)

are you 100% sure on the full retail price of 319.99. Because I want to get this for sprint and they should be the same price for full retail right?

What the ****! I seriously checked the price earlier today and I am 100% positive it said $319.99. I even had a few bystanders that saw it too. BUT...I just checked it again to get you a screenshot and it's listed at $419.99 now! Did I miss a glitch or something. This sucks. Maybe they saw my post above. Booooooo!

so looks like for those that have to buy this unactivated we will be paying 419.99 instead of 319.99. I was actually looking forward to only paying 319 that's cheap.
