Unhappy Constant "Action required: update password" email

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have hotmail and work webmail (exchange server) email accounts set up on my BB Curve.

The hotmail account works fine, and although my work webmail used to work fine, I am now constantly getting emails (every few hours) from BlackBerry Internet Service --> "Action required; update password"

So, I keep logging into the BIS site BlackBerry Internet Service to validate and update my password (although I have not changed it ever!)

Why is this happening? I'm really disappointed as the BB is only a few days old and care more about accessing my work webmail than I do hotmail.

Please help :(

Mary

Mary, it is a MSN/Hotmail requirement that you re-update your password every 90 days. That's hotmail, not your BlackBerry, but you need to update the password at your BIS login site.

Within a few weeks, that won't be required any longer. The new BIS version 2.8 will do away with your having to do that.

You will be required to remove and re-add hotmail address from BIS account to get rid of this annoying reminder.

Thanks for your quick responses guys, but it's my WORK WEBMAIL that has a problem, not hotmail.

Any ideas?

Is this true for work webmails as well?

Thanks, Mary

I think a lot of that depends on the policies at work. What they allow, what they require, what is supported (like IMAP IDLE), etc.

I'm sorry I'm not sure what those are (technically inept) but I can tell you it was working before, and working fine....Why all of the sudden?? :(

Your IT department at work may have instituted new rules/policies that change how you can access the corporate network. You need to have a conversation with IT about this.

That's what I thought too, but everytime I validate it on the BIS, I get all the emails I haven't been receiving....that's until I get the "Action Required: update password" email from BB again.

Do I need to remove and re-add anything perhaps? I'm so disappointed.

When you set up your work account. Did you choose the option for "I can access my outlook through a web browser" or did you choose one of the first two?

Thumbs up

Ok, so I figured it out! It was not my work blocking it after all! I mean, come on - it's webmail and you should be able to access it from anywhere.

Whoever said that the password was expired was 1/2 right. The password was SET TO EXPIRE and so you start to receive this message early!

If anyone here receives this message, please just change your password and you won't have any further problems.

Thanks for everyone's input!
Mary
