Default BES 4.0 sp1 to sp6

Please Login to Remove!

I'll be upgrading / patching / DSt'ing, etc this weekend. The 4.0 Bes is currently at sp1. I know the upgrades are cumulative. Are the HF's along the way included in the latest SP? Going through the Docs it appears that sp5 on 4.0 is recommended before deploying the DST fix. (I know that sp1 to sp6 may seem a little negligent but stability is such a nice place to be!)

From hand-on experience... the most recent SP will contain the previous SPs and the HFs.
If you're going from SP1 to SP6, everything in-between (SP & HF) will be included. You only need to apply HF1 & HF2 after SP6 is installed. Then you'll be up-to-date.

Hello
Rim only lists SP6 and no HFs for BES 4.0 Exchange version. Am I missing something?

Thank you

well, for Domino, SP6 has HF1 and HF2.

So I guess you aren't missing anything.

I will be upgrading to SP 6 this weekend, getting lined up for the DST2007 patch. I am running BES4.0 for exchange. Does anyone have, any tips or pitfalls to look out for?

I upgraded to 2 BES servers from 4.0 sp2 to sp6 last weekend no problems at all upgrade took about 15 minutes each. We are also running exchange and as far as I know there are no hotfix's for sp6.

Excuse my ignorance, im brand new to the whole BES server situations. But im a little late on upgrading our BES from 4.0.2 to SP6. Ive been looking for a walk through on patching the server. ... is there anything i need to do like stop the services or exchange.. anything like that before i run the patch? does anyone have a quick run through or a link they can point me through.... i greatly appreciate it.

thanks,
doug

Howdys.
Check the Read Me file for the SP you intend to install. It should have the steps you need for the update.
For me (Notes Environment), I had to stop the Lotus Server Admin console, install the SP and then start it again.

I appreciate your response! thanks! well i saw the read me file and theres nothing in it. It does come with some PDF help files.. and it give you steps to take if youre upgrading it... which sounds a little different than patching it. Should a patch really be this complicated? im not sure if i can do this during the day or if i should do this after hours? i didnt see anything on patching in the help files, specifically. there isnt any specific documentation on Patching... so yeah.. still a lost over here lol.. thanks for your attention.

Since I dont have that much XP with Exchange, I'm not quite the best source of info. But it cant be that much different from Notes. /shrug

When patching servers, its good to turn off Windows Services for Blackberry to manual, Reboot and then begin the patch. When done, when you reboot, a config screen comes up, run through that and then it will ask you to "Start Services". Installing Hotfixes is much easier,..By the way, Have your Windows Password to the account you are using.
