Question Can BES handle more than one Carrier?

Please Login to Remove!

Newb here. Can BES handle more than one Carrier? We are looking at purchasing BES and a couple of our employees already have Blackberrys. We want to go with a different carrier for a number of reason. So can BES support more than one carrier or do we all need to be on the same carrier?

Also, if BES does then we just need to upgrade their plan to the Enterprise version?

Thanks for your help.

Bes can handle different carriers. Research in Motion is the maker of the BES, and the wireless providers are nothing more than service providers. Software version of the handset should not matter as far as i know, although the older handsets may not be able to enjoy all the wireless features of the BES (some handsets are upgradeable, some are not, but either way any BB should be able to added onto your BES server)

The carriers work basically like an ISP; facilitating the device connection, not much more.

Tier3Guru and stonent are right; the BES environment does not care what carrier your users are with, the carriers only facilitate the connection to your BES.

BBM doesn't work with any of the IM networks. It's basically in IM app that uses PIN messaging so it's BB only. You'll need to find an IM client that will work on the networks that you need.
