I installed the OS 4.5.037 in my T-Mobile 8320 two weeks ago and this OS killed
two sim cards, now downgrade to my old OS. Just I go to wait for the final version.

Sorry, I haven't updated my carrier - It's TMO. They sent me a new blackberry today and the SIM of course was still fried. I took it back and they replaced it. I am just going back to 4.2.2 and stay safe.

.42 has only killed one sim card that I know of...I think it's better.

I asked out contact at T-Mobile about this and he talked to his peeps and their RIM liason and his response back was:

"The response I received from both RIM and T-Mobile is: no. We are not doing anything like this."

How true this is I don't know, but I figured I might as well ask.

How do you roll back to a previous version os. I put 4.5.42 and would like to not have a problem with the sim card

Go to the 8100 forum and find the sticky for the latest 8120 OS. Follow the instructions there to install the OS as you installed the 4.5 beta.

Be sure to uninstall the 4.5.0.42 OS from your PC and then install the OS you want to downgrade to. The Desktop Manager will load whatever the latest OS installed is.

Exclamation T-mobile Help Info on 4.5

T-mobile support has told me they Highly recommend not upgrading blackberry OS's except until T-mobile releases it and getting it from their site.

With T-mobile this is very wise advice unless you wish to fry your SIM card. And it voids your warranty.
I'm going to wait.
I suggest all other T-Mobile customers do also!!

For us T-mobile customers it is either wait for their release or fry your SIM card.

Not all pre TMobile release versions of 4.5 fry sim cards.

You are probably correct, but until I have verified success reported by multiple users of a version of 4.5 that does not fry T-Mobile SIM cards on a Pearl 8120 I'm going to play it safe.

My Pearl is to crucial to my self employment business to be risking downtime with it.

I'll keep my eye on .42 for a while to see if maybe it is going to be safe for the T-Mobile 8120.

.37 was the only version frying sim cards....I heard of MANY. Mostly on 8320's. I only know of only one sim card problem on an 8320 running .42 and that user used .37 for a while. I've not heard of any damaged sim cards since. I wouldn't run .37 on a TMobile 8120 or 8320. Anything later than that and I'd say you're fine. Don't ask me where to get it though.

There are warnings for T-Mobile users who use UMA which I do as when inside some buildings I lose EDGE and use my clients Wi-Fi for UMA. So I need UMA. Which the previous versions to .42 had problems with. Perhaps I will see how others experience the use of UMA with .42 before giving it a shot myself.
Anyone using .42 with UMA????

.37 didn't work on UMA. I think .42 did but I never used .42.

I used .42 with UMA for almost 3 weeks without issue on my 8820.

.46 is working fine on my TMo 8320, outside of no VMI. This doesn't mean anything, though, if you switch to youmail.

I am currently running 4.5.0.46 on my 8320 and last night it started saying "SIM Card Rejected". I could not place or get any calls, but I was still able to use data and I still get emails. I was on a wifi network but it didn't say UMA, just SOS.

Did .46 fry my SIM?
I'm currently downgrading back to the latest official OS to see if that works, and if not, then I'm going to have to make a trip to T-Mobile.

UPDATE: I downgraded to 4.2.2 and it still says SIM rejected. I don't have another phone/SIM I could swap to test it out still, so it's off to T-Mobile for me. Still not sure if it's 4.5.0.46 related.

just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. i'm on at&t running 4.5.0.52 rls 75 and i am getting SIM not allowed. this tends to happen when the phone is off (non battery pull). when my phone powers back on from it's 2am to 9am slumber i awake with no rings for emails and a nice "sim not allowed" message instead of the at&t text i'm used to. a battery pull fixes the problem. i'm using an old cingular card so i'm going to update it to the new 3g att card when i get into work. (yes i work for att)

Could be a bug in the BB code. Remember if your SIM has a PIN on it and you get the PIN wrong x times, it locks the SIM out of the network. Maybe the BB is entering a PIN once in a while and triggering the "lockout" counter... just a thought.
