are you installing the beta version(4.1)? or the official released version (4.0)?, or the older version (3.0)?

make sure that you shutdown all open non-essential background apps. Especially if you are running Simulsays, there's a known issue there.

There is a bug with DM 4.2.1 that prevents installing/recognizing new apps for installation.

Upgrade to DM to 4.3.

Good luck

Miniopera.com does not recognize the 8120. Don't know if that makes any difference, but I downloaded but the install failed. I did not choose the beta version. I recall someone saying to turn of the radio but don't know if they meant during install or every time you open it.

Your problem is the version of your desktop manager that does not recognize the install files.

I had the same issue, upgraded DM to 4.3 and worked like a charm. Then all i had to do was change the TCL >>APN settings to point to my gprs cellular provider.

I now use my 8130 to surf using mimiopera and NO BB dataplan at all.

I didn't use DM to install. i used OTA. But using DM may be the only way to correct the settings as the install program when downloaded OTA doesn't give you the opportunity to change those connection settings. It just says the connection failed. BTW, where is the info for those settings found? Do I have to contact my provider for that info?
Thanks

Clicking on the beta link above or going to miniopera.com from BB browser brings up some "related topics" page. I don't see anything to DL and install mini opera browser anywhere. What am I missing?

If you go to operamini.com not miniopera.com with the BB browser then you will see the OTA downloads. I tried the new and the older version and they both fail to establish a connection.
The site also fails to recognize the 8120, don't know if that makes any difference to the data in the downloaded installation program or not.
