Well unless Sprint upgrades the technology, which is a posibility in due time, then your guess is as good as anyones.

Well that is gonna really suk hard. the only reason I have Nextel is due to the direct connect feature.
well worst case cenario, who is the best carrier out there? I have no idea at all I have been a nextel user for......ever and if the DC goes boom then I need to start lookin for a new carrier.

Approximately 30 days less than our previous guesses and estimates. February (late). March. Who knows.

(lol @ njbb post above)

My sisters boyfriends uncles neighbor knows this guy who ran into this kid who’s dad is a High level guy at T-Mobile and he said...Cingular will release the 8700 in November and have a 90 day exclusive on it. T-Mo should see it on or around 90 days...Hmm seems we've been here before

I spoke with my T-Mobile account manager (I work for a major entertainment company with over 1400 BlackBerrys) and he advised me Cingular does have a 90 day exclusivity on the 8700 which is up on February 1st . AND the 8700t was scheduled to launch on February 2nd but has been moved to March 1st for additional testing with T-Mobile's engineers. T-Mobile will not hesitate to delay a product launch if they feel it is not up to par for their network standards. Remember, they delayed their initial launch of the 7290 last year for similar reasons.

I say good for them if it means less problems after the 8700t finally launches. I'm not going to switch carriers just to have a new BlackBerry 60 days sooner or in this case 90 days sooner. At least by the time the 8700t comes out most of the problems will have already surfaced and hopefully resolved. Remember good things come to those who wait. FYI, Cingular does not support MMS on the BlackBerry but T-Mobile does.

I agree with above. Our telecom person just told me this:

"T-mobile told me they are scheduled to have stock of the Blackberry 8700t in March 2006. I just talked with them about this two days ago because the 7105t is not much of an upgrade and they realize that it didn't make too much of an impact."

Any of you guys on the T-Mobile network have an MMS send option?

I don't. Am I missing a service book?

I don't know if tregrad is still following this thread, but here is the skinny on IDEN/WIDEN...

The IDEN system will remain up and running for the foreseeable future. I'm not sure how much I know is covered by NDA, but what I can definitely tell you is that a few years ago Nextel purchased a very fast, low latency, IP based 2way technology in order to keep it out of the hands of competitors. Now that Sprint/Nextel are one company...

It would also be logical for Sprint/Nextel to bridge the two systems to allow voice and 2-way across the two networks. Your DC is not going away any time soon. It may even be improved.

Yep. Should be listed as MMS Config. Try going into Host Routing Table and registering on a new one. If it doesn't show up, make sure you are on 4.0.2 or greater.

On a related subject, has anyone actually seen one of the T-Mobile test units? I am curious to find out if we should expect any significant differences in the form factor from the 8700c, as there were between the various 7100s.

Then explain the HP6315 debacle? Or the Motorola A630...

Fact of the matter is; T-mobile DOES release bad phones, but their Blackberry team seems to be the exception in this.

I am also curious about this. I wonder if any form factor changes will arise for the 8700t from user-input or further testing on the 8700c/r.

Also, does anyone have any idea of what color scheme T-mobile is planning to use for the casing? (I hope black)

Well, we're not even at 90 days yet from the Cingular launch so . . .

Even if you take say November 21st as the Cingular launch date we're still a month or so out from the *possibility* that TMo will launch it - and that's assuming they're in a rush to do so. Not sure there'd be any reason for them to be hurrying up though I certainly hope so! I also hope the case is black when they release it
