Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

4.5 is NOT available in 8830. No timeline.
However, if you search around some of the BB online publications, you will find a beta download which seems just as stable. In particular, I like the version in my profile the best

There is no update for the 8830 yet despite what RIM says. All that link does is run the App Loader which will just tell you that you're running the most current software regardless if you delete vendor.xml or not.

I am NOT sure what makes the 8830 so unique that they can't develop an upgrade rather easily at this pt

What will the greatly desired upgrade provide? Any change that will be noticeable to the average user?

I read in a couple different forums that there are some problems with the profiles and notifications in this release. Have you had any problems? I just got an 8830 and was thinking about "test driving" this release.

Default Running 4.5.0.101 with only a couple of annoyances!

I found the 4.5.0.101 beta online and installed on my 8830. It installed without an issue and has worked almost flawlessly since. The only two complaints I have is the speakphone volume when at its highest setting is much quiter than before the applying the beta version and the launchers I downloaded for ESPN, CNN, etc. don't work and I have to go to their site manually in the browser.

The good things like HTML e-mail, better browser, able to watch YOUTUBE videos, the new voice recorder make this beta well worth it!

Good luck!

Thanks. I tried it but I could not change the notification settings (ringtones and such) so I ended up going back to 4.2.2. It did look cool and sound better though.

I go tmy VZW upgrade by going to: the SmithMicro site.

I haven't experienced any issues with the VZW upgrade - but I had already upgraded to 4.5 using another carrier's version. I did the VZW update to see if there were any other changes (like GPS capability removal, etc.) BTW - VZW did not remove GPS capability in this upgrade.
